Noise when starting

Every once in a while, when starting my truck, 2016/1500, it has a grinding noise. It’s almost like when you try to start a car that’s already started. Any idea of what it could be?

I don’t hear anything wrong but someone else might chime in and say differently. You may need a shim by your starter based on your quick description but, like I said, everything I heard sounded normal.

Sounds like the bendix on the starter may be lagging a bit. Maybe an early indicator that relay is starting to wear out. Or the teeth on the bendix or flywheel may have some damage

Other then possibly the starter bendix staying out to long for a quick sec sounds fine to me.
