The grill ruined the Rebel for me too. That and the goofy tire tread seats.

Not only did I think they were goofy too but that tire-tread pattern was also supposedly the reason why the Rebel didn’t come with the air conditioned seats.

I never thought that would be a feature I would fall in love with but that black leather in my Limited gets awful warm in the summer and even though my AC blows like the Polar ice winds, it sure is nice having that air ventilation blowing up the backside. Lol.

But on another note, I didn’t really consider the Rebel as a “high-end” truck- figured those were the Laramies, Laramie Longhorns and the Limiteds. All that Rebel is, is just a toned-down half-ton version of the Power Wagon.

Agreed, although the laramies on the 5th gens seem to have taken a step back, at least in what is standard. You can option them up to as much as a longhorn/limited but I've seen some pretty "bare bones" looking laramies too. The rebels though...yeah I'm with you, slightly more capable for something nearly no one will actually use theirs for (off road), with a weird interior.

Love the cooled seats too (but I wanted them for a loooong time before I got them). And I believe they actually work by pulling all the hot air out of the seat by drawing it out with fans, giving the cooling effect as the seat temperature goes down. I always figured they were cooled by something or some method but apparently it's a simple as that.

Yeah and since that Rebel doesn’t have that Active Grille Shutter System, finding an aftermarket grille to your liking is one of the easiest mods you’ll ever do, other than cost.

My '19 Rebel has active upper grill shutters in the list of standard equipment.

They didn’t have it at all on the 4th-Gens. I realize this discussion is in the 5th-gen section but I figured for whatever reason the 4th-gen Rebels didn’t have the AGS that the same reason would hold for the new Rebels. But when you say Active Upper Grille Shutters, this tells me it’s not necessarily the same as the rest of the trucks but enough to satisfy having it on there, but not totally deviating from whatever reason why the older Rebels didn’t have it.

In the context of changing a grille on a '19, the presence of any shutters seems to make it more of a modification than simply slapping any other grille in its place. It's just a matter of knowing what one is up against before starting.

Long time Chevy driver here. I'm looking at RAM because the new Chevy looks like c.r.a.p. to me. Plus the ride difference is amazing. GM trucks are just rough as hell these days. Test drive them back to back. You won't go Chevy.

Which is strange because back at the turn of the new millennium, GM/Chevy had some of the smoothest riding pickups out there.
