One of the recalls is inside the headliner. It has been my experience that once a factory installed area is disturbed it is never the same again.

What is the recall? If they don't fix it correctly make them do it again

Honestly, recalls are a simple fact of life nowadays. Its not just cars / trucks every industry is doing it.

Most recalls are just CYA "in case" you had an accident, just be sure the vehicle is clean and not damaged when you take it in (take pictures) and check it still looks OK before you leave the dealer.

If you aren't sure what they will disassemble to implement the recall, ask them and let them see you are taking pictures of the target area.

Work with the dealer and create an understanding of expectations.

I got the letters for those two. Already had the computer replaced. They said to bring it in for a flash and ended up swapping it out instead. Haven't made the appointment for those ones yet.

The airbag reprogram is a simple reflash. Had mine done on the 3rd. Just got the letter for the steering wheel one and as far as I understand it, they pull the covers off the steering column, inspect the wiring harness, and install spacers to prevent chaffing.

Don't think they go near the headliner...

Do you have a number for the recall? I haven't heard of any yet that have anything to do with the headliner.

I think someone posted the Side Airbag dealer instructions in another thread, and they did list pulling down the headliner to inspect the curtain airbags.

I had my curtain airbag recall done, and the truck never even left the service parking lot. Brought the scan tool out and programmed it and called it a day.

The recall I had was R23 and it was a reflash.

OP is talking about R47, strip out most of the interior aparantly inc headliner. Thats what I read also. Approx 3-5 hour task. Wanna know my take? **** THEM. Thats my take. Or lack of. I'll take my chances with my "dangerious Ram airbags" for my invisible rear occupants.

My advice to you guys that will be having this done, is simple. Get proof of what your trucks interior condition is prior to them doing this work, else its gonna be a he says she says ******** scenario afterwards.

EDIT, Holy mother of Gawd. Its an almost total interior strip down, good luck, you'll be spending the lifetime of the truck going back to the dealer for rattles and knocks, I dont have the resolve for this anymore. HAHAH. Check it..

And gawd bless capatilism, the dealers are paid what looks like to be 2.5 to 3 hours allowance for this task. I bet your rotten ponies they cut corners on this one.

Lowering the headliner is far from a complete interior strip down. It's really not that bad to do, interior trim only goes in one way and it's just screws and clips. I've had entire interiors stripped down to to replace body harness wiring. Everything went back together no issue and no rattles. Some of you guys obviously need to find better dealers, as long as the tech doesn't have ham for hands it's pretty easy.

Yes mate, you and I both know that and Im sure you and I also know when time restrictions are imposed and mass recalls are being processed for frightened customers then it wont all be done to our specifications/standards by all of the techs.

I didnt even open mine.

I've had the flash done and it did not require dropping the headliner. I am waiting on the steering wheel fix now.

They're talking about a different recall. Flash is R23... they got R47.. and yea it's a mess. I gotta side with them, I wouldn't have it done either.

Agreed, if that's whats involved. I was only advised there were 2 recalls open for the newer trucks (reflash and steering wheel). I had no idea about this one.

*Edit

Just pulled my truck up apparently I only qualify for R23 (completed) and R36.

I'll let the Dealer experiment on other trucks for a few months before I take mine in. =)

I'm certainly not losing any sleep over it either way. I mean, jeez,,, I just got in from a couple hour ride on my MC here in Houston,,, Should I be concerned about these recalls might 'affect my safety' WHEN IM IN MY RAM!?!? LMAO!!!!

Maybe I should park the RAM and ride the MC 24/7!!! LOL! IDFTS!!!
