working on a 1999 ram 1500 sport. 5.9L, 46re auto, NP231DHD.
truck was making some awful noises. got a lot worse in 4x4. decided to pull the transfer case and check it out. found a couple metal chunks on the magnet, no idea where they came from. and a broken snap ring. i can add pictures if it helps.
i realized after a had the case split that i didn’t even train the t case. it was ran with no fluid for who knows how long.
do y’all think it’s rebuildable? i don’t like the idea of using all the shafts and planet gears that have run with no fluid.
someone has been in this t case before because it was held together by a lot of silicone.
what’s a good place that i could get a remanufactred unit? this truck is a ranch truck. need it back asap.
