I was trying to switch out my O2 sensor and now I f*cked it up lol. I thought it was slowly spinning out but was just stripping. Cheap fkn O2 sockets. Any ideas on what to use now? It is very tight in there, idk what wrenches I could get in there. Thats bank 1 sensor 1
This is a 08’ 1500 5.7
I’ve actually not tried heat yet. Maybe that’s what I’ll do once I get a wrench that’ll fit

A little penetrating oil and some heat may help. Try either a channel lock pliers or vise grip type pliers to insure a tight grip on the sensor when trying to back it out.

They have kits you can buy: But yeah a loot of penetrating oil, like WD 40. Some heat and a lil bit of luck. LINK to O2 set, for a reference, not suggesting. (pardon is link)

I have one of those socket sets and 2 out of 3 times the O2 sensor gets rounded out. Then I get a small pipe wrench and that never fails.

I started stripping one of my o2 sensors trying to get it out with an o2 socket. I cut the exhaust line and disconnected the cats at the manifold to drop the whole assembly on the floor and used my 1/2 inch impact to break it free. No amount of heat, penetrating oil, air hammering, breaker bar extension was going to get it.IMG_0969.jpeg

I removed all of mine this weekend on a 2015 (first time being removed). I heated the bungs up real good, then they broke loose pretty easy. Once they broke, I could unthread them by hand

These are the two I have, the one on the left is great for when I have room, the one on the right for when I don't

In this case, I could slide the right one on, grab a 6 or 9 inch extension and put my breaker bar below it

I have those exact same two sockets. The little one I have put an large holed washers on to keep it from expanding and slipping.

Plus penetratung oil the night before. Heat on the Buung and welding gloves to keep from frying my fingers the day of.
