Yes that can do it. Check all of your fuses. You probably blew the fuse that powers your OBD2 plug. Just had it happen recently on a Silverado we were fixing.

Usually it is the cig lighter circuit that powers the obd plug

Yes cig lighter fuse. Rather dumb on Chryslers part to not label it...

fuse to cig lighter is good, but lighter is out as well.
I'll rip into the dash and check it out,see if I can get that obd port fired up

On the 98 Ram its fuse 12. Same as dome, cargo, glove box & under hood lamps. The yellow & black keepers are used to pull the fuse loose. Theres a little "flip open" spot or door on top of it that then gives access to remove the fise. Hope that helps, took me a bit to fig both these out! Which was OBD port fuse, and how to remove it!

Replace the 10amp fuse in fuse panel on the driver's side of the dash. The cover was hard to open as it doesn't pull out. It works like a door that you would open. The cigar lighter still doesn't work but it might have a wire loose or broken. This one little fuse fixed my radio, dome and overhead console lights, OBD plug and the remote controlled mirrors.
