OEM Backup Camera

Was wondering if the backup camera will beep or sound off if you get too close when backing up? Never get very close to stuff if I can help it. Checked the settings under safety etc and under backup camera, I did not see any setting for the warning beeps. On my 2014 Ram Express.

Your head unit display shows green, yellow and red gradated lines. Once you get close it should beep unless you've turned off that audio function on the head unit.

How would I check? I never changed anything and its never beeped. What would it be under, other than settings.

For the backup camera display and sound options:





If the sound setting is on Low you may not be able to hear it.

My truck being the Express edition, I don't believe it has the chimes.

Mines a Tradesman and if has the back up chimes.

I can confirm on my 2016 Express that it doesn’t have the sound option. Just ParkView Backup - Active Guidelines and Camera Delay. There’s also Hill Start Assist in the same menu under Safety/Assistance.

My 2015 SLT 1500 does not beep but I will check the setting tomorrow as right now it is 25 *f :O

The beep always surprises me and I hit brake only to find put I am like 5 feet away from object.

On the 13-18 Rams with only the backup camera, there shouldn't be an option for a warning beep when close
... Only trucks with rear ParkSense should have an audio warning option.

Those that indicated they have a beep, feel free to confirm your year and if you have ParkSense.

I believe it should. Try checking the volumn setting in your setup app. ftd

I had the oem camera installed with my 8.4 and it doesn't chime. I would think you would need the parking sensors.
