Hey All...
I know that this subject has been discussed countless times here but I haven't had success in finding the answer here on this forum so....
My problem/issue is that I bought the OEM tailgate handle camera to replace the inoperable aftermarket camera the previous owner had mounted in the bumper. I installed the tailgate handle camera per instructions and went through all of the alfaOBD options for camera but still getting the blue unavailable screen....help?

SRich2015,

I don't quite understand your question....I plugged the connector (from the kit)into the connector in the tailgate and ran all the wiring up to the back of the radio and plugged into the rca cable and power wire to the hot wire at the 12v power outlet and ground.

What am I missing?

If you installed an oem camera and hooked it up to the factory wiring without installing the whole new harness that comes with the kit it won’t work. The factory kit doesn’t have an rca plug in it....

Ya That's not an OEM camera system. It's an "OEM Like" system. Check the instructions something is not set right.

Since you are getting the blue screen, the backup camera is activated correctly in the BCM. There’s only three things to check:
Power (fuse?)
Ground
Or, if the wires you inserted into positions 31&32 on the radio connector are reversed

I'm about to pull the trigger on that same exact camera. Did you find out your issue by chance?

2nd on the pins being reversed, it’s easier to do than you might think if your not familiar with multi pin connectors.

Good luck..

ok Guys....found my issue. I reread the destructions and reread them a few more times and realized I "read" the radio plug wrong and put the wires in the wrong place. Gonna get some more pin connectors and do it the right way on my next day off this coming Sunday. I did get the camera operational by temporarily connecting the yellow wire to #31 pin and black wire to #32 pin thru the back of the radio connector and putting my truck in reverse.

Again...SRich2015 & Jimmy07...I appreciate your replies/help.

I gotta wait a couple more days on the pin connectors Guys....After going to 3 different auto parts stores and a audio/video installer, with no luck in finding RAM/MOPAR connectors and given 4 and told that " these will work"(I knew they wouldn't but free is free), I went online and found a audio adapter wire connector for my Ram. I'm just gonna remove the two wires (yellow and Black) and install them into my connector at pin 31 & 32.

I'll keep the thread updated...

Mission complete... the adapter I used was the audio adapter for Dodge/Jeep/2009-2012. On Amazon. Only one I found that was close to my 2015 so took a shot...$14. I used a pin tool to remove the wires from the plastic connector (they were in #'s 21 & 22) and put the yellow in #31 and the black in #32 , used the pin tool to make sure the wires were seated in the radio connector and tested everything before I buttoned everything up. Here is the link for the 20201126_102232_1.jpg 20201126_102232_1.jpg adapter on Amazon

Just to update....
I've been having issues with the camera working fine then getting distorted screen when I put the truck in reverse. Contacted Tailgate camera and was told that my truck make/model had issues with camera product I bought . Working on getting another camera and/or fix.

I had this exact problem and solved it by taking apart the coupler and applying a dab of electrical grease, recommended by someone here. Put it back together and it worked fantastic.

Update...
Got a new sent to me. Haven't installed it yet. Gonna try the dielectric grease on the coupler first...if it keeps giving me a distorted screen then I'll swap out cameras

Swapped in the new camera. Put dielectric grease on the coupler and still get a distorted screen every so often....guess it's something I'll have to live with...

Hey All,

I gotta new issue with the tailgate camera. The camera has been working but still getting the occasional distorted screen even after putting dielectric grease in the plug. Today I put my truck in reverse and all I get is a green screen.

WTF?
