That does make sense to me. I still have three 5/W20 jugs on my shelf (two changes worth). Thank you G-Man. I'm a State man (retired TxDot). You have done good to be at 195K.

Allways used PBL12222 boss, never knew there was another. Do you guys recommend switching to that larger one?

My former mechanic and the man I have now who bought his business has said if possible to use a larger filter. That MO-339 is tiny. I started using the MO-899 when the dealership sold it to me I suppose by accident. It fits well, no leaks, oil pressure is good (55-58 psi on cold start up) so I stayed with it. I have read where members here I think may be using larger filters then what I use but I'm fine with the 899.

So not true , 5w30 Red Line is all I run in -40 here . Southern Ontario dosent even know what cold actually is.. lol...

The coldest I started my truck was -52 a couple years back, even plugged in it almost didnt start... The noises that came out the engine bay was pretty neat.

While I don't disagree that 5W30 RL HP can be more than acceptable for winter usage, there are some exceptions where certain engines just don't react well with it, cold or hot.

As evidenced by my previous 19' HEMI when I was in the Ottawa Valley and/or Quebec where the overnight winter temps also got darn near to the temps you indicate and it never had an issue with anything abnormal were it cold starts or not, running with 5W30 RL HP oil.

However, for whatever reason that I nor anyone can really explain, my current 23' HEMI doesn't like the 5W30 RL HP oil be it sub-zero temps or ridiculously hot days, period. It was noisy and just didn't feel smooth and happy.

Believe me when I say I've tried every variable and condition with the 5W30 RL HP oil in my current 23' and have a slew of UOA's that confirm my engine is healthy, and it's well documented here in our forum as well. But she has spoken to me that she doesn't like that oil, and so I listened.

I then migrated to HPL SC 0W30... and WOW, what a difference in smoothness, happiness in any temp conditions, and overall feel, especially on cold starts in sub-zero or blazing heat.

Unfortunately, I've run out of my stock of HPL SC 0W30 and because the cost today for a single pail of it (gets me 2.5 oil changes worth of oil) runs nicely over $500 CDN (incl's our discount code/USD to CDN conversion/shipping/and duty to UPS to bring it to me), I've just switched over to M1 ESP 0W30 with 2x10oz bottles of Lubegard Biotech.

I've got less than 400km on this new oil/additive strategy currently as I just got it changed last week, so we'll see how it goes

I must be a lucky SOB because my divorce cost me $10K CDN all in, and I got full 50/50 custody-access-decision making rights-no pension robbing-no spousal support, all on paper!

Only thing is child support, but it's 100% based on the government calculator where we input my annual income before tax and hers, and then it tells us how much I have to pay her bi-weekly.

But come next year.... I'm getting the child support payments... YEEEEEHAWWWWW... LOL

I support my BB-Girl every step of the way... Heck, I regularly overspend all the time as I'm regularly asking her Momma what I can split with her for anything, just to ensure my Angel is looked after 100%!!!

Cold start oil pressures mean nothing,it's what it idles at and cruises down the road when the oils hot and at operating temps. Not sure why guys think cold start pressures are important and seem to always post them,instead of the important hot pressures

Hey Wild one I did check the pressure a couple days ago after I did an oil change. At operating temp idling in gear at a signal light it was like 34-37psi and when I drove away it would climb into the 40's to low 50's as you would go faster but had to keep my eyes on the road so... This was in city driving and just an errand running trip in the neighborhood. Coolant temp was at 206-210 Fahrenheit and oil temp was like 192-196. The oil temp had not reached the 200 plus mark yet.
