Oil Filter Relocation Kit

I am planning on installing an oil filter relocation kit on my truck. Does anyone have a recomendation of which one? I have a 2016 1500 RAM. Do you have any recomendations of the location to mount it (photo would great)

I'm no fan of Pac Brakes kit,but at this point in time they're the only ones with a truck specific kit.
I run Transdapts dual filter set-up,but it needs a bit of work to fit a truck.

Lots of threads on options here, and for the most part they work great for most… just be aware they also introduce more potential failure points.

If I try this again, I’ll probably just DIY since there are a lot of writeups on that and the hose/fitting selection would be on me. Some of the DIYs look really nice.

I had a Transdapt kit on a 2017 Rebel I used to own. Sorry, I didn't take any pics of that setup. IIRC I mounted the remote filter to the frame just behind the front bumper. up as high on the frame as I could mount it. Making sure it wasn't so far forward that it would drain onto the inside of the bumper.

I will say that as a side note, 4th gens have more remote filter mounting options that 5th gens.

Can you explain your issues with the pac brake? I think I've seen you comment on this before but can't find the posts back. I'm leaning towards removing my pacbrake and installing the dual trans-dapts kit, is it a hard job in terms of mounting brackets etc? The nice thing about the pacbrake is it's 100% complete.

Pacbrakes kit should have freer flowing fittings IMO and perhaps a little better transition into their filter housing. For the vast majority of regular guys it's perfectly fine. 0 effect on low speed oil pressures, I only see a little drop in max pressure with mine.

Could it be better? Yes. Is it an easy to install kit without worry of needing something else, fabbing, drilling etc etc? Also yes.

As Jesse stated to many low flow 90 degree fittings and to many sharp edges to contribute to shear.Nobody has ever reported an increase in pressure with their kit,while my dual filter set up and high flow 90's increased my pressures by a couple psi. You could yank out their 90's and replace then with a higher flowing 90 and spend some time with a die grinder smoothing/rounding off all the sharp corners as you can get at,and that will help the Pac Brake kit immensely.I don't know if i'd get rid of it,if you already have it,i'd just modify it and replace fittings.

years ago i had an S10 blazer that had the remote oil filter in the engine compartment. was a rather convenient option that someone installed.

maybe back then there was more room in there to do that

I don't think there is any reason you can't mount it in an area that would accessible from above. But you have to crawl underneath the truck to drain the oil anyway so there's really no advantage to mounting it up high. Or do you plan to use an extractor and pull it out of the dipstick tube?

You don't really want to mount a remote filter higher then the outlet on the engine,otherwise you'll have drainback,which will lead to another second or 2 before the engine builds oil pressure.The more oil you can keep in the lines feeding the filter,the faster it builds pressure,the filters usually have a drainback valve that'll keep them full,but not the lines.

Have one (4893315AC) on a Durango. It just directs the oil mess where the funnel is pointed. I don't see it as a substitute for a quality oil filter relocation kit.

I have improved racing on both my rams. A bit pricy, but I have not had a oil problem. No leaks and my oil pressure has not been affected.

Maybe i'm out in left field,but i still prefer the big ole 8A style filters,as i think in the long run they'll hold more contaiments,and still flow a decent amount of oil through the media

I made my own -10 / 5/8" hoses with high flow fittings. I spent a few minutes with a die grinder cleaning up all the sharp edges i could get to.
Remember "Out" from engine adapter to "In" on remote mount,and "Out" from remote mount to "In" on the engine adapter
