The same darn mountain, 3 times in 3 years.
8 sp auto. With 5.7. At 60 mph shifts down to 4th, rpms way up there. And then notified of low pressure. I pull over, listening to ticking.
Shut her down. Wait a few. Start er up and it resets or something. Sometimes it happens again. Never have an issue any other time. 100k miles and towing 3200 lbs. Any ideas?

I definitely appreciate any and all responses to my issue here. As an update though, I am now having oil pressure problems without mountains or towing. Pressure starting out in the 30's when cold and not taking a long time to decrease all the way down to single digits. Am I looking at a pump or should I pop in a sensor first? What do the experts think? TIA!

I'd go with a sensor first, it is cheap and easy. Also would be good to hook up a master gage to get a good idea of pressure.

Before I spent any money on parts I would get an oil pressure gauge attached to this thing before you need a short block and one that you have to pay a core charge for because your core isn't any good.

Find out what the actual engine oil pressure is before you drive this truck any further and create a larger parts and labor bill.

Attach a mechanical gauge to get a true reading of your oil pressure.

After you get your problem solved it would be a great idea to permanently install a gauge.

There are pods available that allow mounting over the steering column , or the a piller .

I got a small gauge and mounted it over the little cubby on the drivers side dash near where the ignition is.

Again, appreciate you all. I've had this 2017 since 17k miles and, for the most part I've had the oil changes done at my neighborhood Valvoline store. Maybe she needs a little more TLC now that she's a little older. Maybe my older bones can get up under there and get er done. Mopar filter and Mobil 1 or something? TIA!

There are many good full synthetic oil solutions but ditch that Mopar filter already.

The thread linked below is worth skimming and you will discover evidence to support switching to an aftermarket synthetic filter.

Hint: start at the last page, reading it backwards to get the most recent solutions.

There have been many developments since 10-2017.
