Hi,

Checking to see if anyone has had a similar issue as I am having. I have an '05 with the 4.7. The "Check Gauges" light goes on and off many times while driving, and while the light comes on, the oil pressure gauge drops, but most of the time by the time the gauge gets all the way down, the light goes off and the oil pressure gauge goes back to normal levels. It happens more at slower speeds and while stopped at a red light, etc.

Has anyone experienced similar? I am not sure if I should be concerned that there is an actual issue with the oil pressure, or if it is just an issue with the gauge/sensor.

Thanks!

Basically there are two causes: 1) oil pressure sender, and 2) oil pump failure. Number 1 is an easy and cheap task. Try that first and if that fixes it then you’re golden. If not, then it’s number 2 which is a bigger project

If it turns out to be a bad oil pressure sender, get the OE replaement.

Our Rams are picky with sensors.

Hey Zak, I’m having the exact same issue as you. Did you get this figured out? Would appreciate the input on what turned out to be the issue. Thanks!
