I have a 2014 with the 5.7 and after starting and running the oil light came on and the pressure went to 0. I immediately turned the truck off and checked the oil level and it was fine and not low at all. turned the truck back on ( it was back up to 52 psi)and ran it for another couple of minutes (of driving) it went back down to 0. I am going to do an oil change filter and probably a pressure sensor but wondering if there is anything else to do before taking it a mechanic? i checked the codes and didn't have any for oil pressure issues. any help would be greatly appreciated

No unusual noises when you ran it? 0 oil pressure even for a short time for a hemi you’d be able to make a deaf man hear again with the noises these motors make. Probably could be the sensor get oem or you’ll just be replacing it again soon. Id use another vehicle and not drive it till you know the sensor was at fault and not something else. These motors already aren’t happy with the oil supply they get at full function let alone with a weak link someplace in the engine.

Sensor failure is not unheard of with this engine, I had mine go out with less than 10,000 miles.

Get a Mopar brand replacement, as should be done with any sensors on this vehicle . Aftermarket sensors do not always work well, for most chance of success use factory OEM.h

I added a permanent mechanical oil pressure gauge, this removes the uncertainty that comes with the factory setup.

My 14's original sensor packed it in at just under 10,000 miles, when the dealer replaced it 10 years ago under warrenty, they said there was an updated/better version for the 14's,it's been 10 years on the replacement sensor with no issues.
