Normal oil temp for 16 2500 tradesman 6.4 hemi crew cab....I was idling at 239 degrees after driving about an hour, is that a temp I should be worried about? Outside temp was about 95 degrees.

I've seen close to those temps driving in cooler weather

Seems normal but my 4.7 hasn’t hit over 204 even when i’m beating on it in the nearly 112° california heat.

I was just normal city driving, no extra
The 6.4's use piston oil squirters to cool the pistons,so they will run a bit hotter oil temps then a 5.7 usually, but 239 is a bit excessive if you weren't working the engine hard. Cheapest thing would be to try a differant oil and filter combo, and see if anything changes oil temp wise. 5W-30 Redline seems to have a decent rep in the 6.4's,might be worth a try.

I wouldnt say 239f is a problem, but if it gets 239 what will it be if you start using it like a truck as in towing, or if it is a mountain road. What rick aka wildone is saying, there are base oils you can chose that will operate in the extremes better then most anything you will see on a walmart shelf. Lines 2 and 5 in the chart would be redline 5w30 versus line 1 which would be your general shelf oil. A better temperature range in both cold or hot temps.

Run a good synthetic and filter and don't worry about it.
