Get a new mechanic, LOL. Lucas is an oil thickner, it is the last thing you want for dry start ups. You would want an oil thinner before an oil thickner for dry starts, not saying I believe in oil thinners. Molybnenum is what you want for dry starts,
read here. Redline has the most moly, but additives such as lubegard's biotech also can add moly to whatever oil you use. The viscosity ram chose for Ram's is 9 at operating tempature, some guys opt for oils with a viscosity of 12 for a little extra protection at operating temps, Lucas has an operating viscosity over 100. Literally the only thing lucas would help is in older engines that have ring damage. It is 4 times thicker then 75w140 gear oil. Why would you run that in a mds engine? You are asking for a sludge problem with this stuff. The juice aint worth the squeeze for this, the trade off of percieved benefit can really cost you.
When you turn your car off the engine is hot, all base oils drain down off hot metal. Ester base oils have the best chance at sticking, so ester might help. The things that work to stick to metal are additives other then base oil. The group of additives that are used for this are called EP additives. Additionally they also have AW additives that also may leave some protection behind. Research aw/ep additives if you want something other then moly for some reason.
