Recently I clayed and sealed with megs m21 my brand new ram. And having never done this before the results were eye opening to me.

So I'd like to do something similar to my other vehicles that you could probably sum up as being neglected... I can't remember the last time it saw wax.

Since its not new and has some below the surface issues what should I use after the clay and before the sealant? I'm not looking for showroom quality and also keep in mind I'd be doing this all by hand..no power tools.

Thanks.

By hand it will be tough, even a cheap Harbor Freight DA would be better. But either way, I would say use a compound and then a polish after the clay. That should help out a lot.

Yeah, that's one of the OTC ones, that I guess you could od by hand. They also have the Meguiars ultimate polish and wax that you could use as well. If you look at ordering it online you can get better quality stuff, for a little more.

See autogeek they have a huge selection of all detail products, including quality compounds. Remember use the LEAST abrasive product first to correct a problem.

My new favorite is HD cut(compound), HD polish(polish), and SPNS-Sonax polymer Net shield(sealant-replaces wax). I am not for sure on how well the HD cut, and Hd polish will work by hand. If you really want to help it out, get some kind of power DA. Like I said about the harbor freight one, it is a cheaper one, but it will still do way more than you can by hand.

I got a meguiars da at advance auto they are having sale $10 off when you buy any meguiars product. I woild get all 3 pads polish (yellow) wax (black) and compound (bergandy) they come in packs of 1 pad and small bottle of stuff or 2 pads each pack. They are like $14 for eack pack and $60 for the da you could get all pass and da for less than $100.

I just used Meg's #105 with a purple wool hybrid pad, followed by #83 and an orange pad to bring back life to my neighbor's 24 year old R32 GTR. I'll hit it with a final polish (TBD) on a white pad, and some sexy carnauba because he's after sexy looks for some pics so he can sell it.
VERY impressed with the #105/wool pad..
