Well I hey there everyone I'm mike and new to the forums. I have been drag racing for quite a while. As I was on the market for a truck I found my ram and couldn't say no. I have had her for a year and have played with the engine. Upgraded cam injectors and also made the turbo system for it. She produces 468 HP safely, as of now its back to stock.. Now this is where luck screwed me. I have no idea how the automatics are.. My transmission has taken a dump and seems the shift solenoid won't engage 3 and 4.. However I'm done with the auto. It will cost upward of 3k to get it done. I also am a Chevy guy so I know power limits of trans and engines. So bottom line is what transmission can I swap besides my 45rfe to make my truck manual? Its been a struggle to find some thing that will work or bolt up to my hemi. I found a bell housing from QuickTime that bolts up to my hemi and can mate a t56 from ford, however splines need to be changed. I also hear that the nv3500 and 4500 bolt right up. I honestly have heard so much I don't know what to believe anymore. Any facts or knowledge would be greatly appreciated. Goal is for the truck to run 11s at the strip. She is also my daily.

Engine is a 5.7 hemi magnum

Think a T56 or the newer tr6060/T56 magnum is your best bet for a manual.

Challenger hemi's come factory with a TR6060 (OEM T56 magnum) so you can buy OEM bellhousing, clutch, slave/master for it... 'cheaply'.

Going the quicktime, double clutch route will be more expensive.

Belguiq so if I find a 2008 5.7 hemi challenger with the t56 60/60 and take the trans plus all clutch accessories it would bolt right up to my 05? I have been hearing bolt patterns are different for different year 5.7s. Correct me if I am wrong please

Edit* what year should I be looking for 08 to newest or?

I rather go factory than quick times its bit cheaper and I'm sure not as bad of a hassle if anything goes wrong

08-now stick shift Challenger, R/T or SRT. Bolt pattern for all the hemis is the same.

Another advantage of using OEM bellhousing for a challenger is that if you want a twin disc clutch there are plenty available for the challenger.

You guys are the absolute best, I can finally rest my mind, looks like I will be hunting for an 08 manual trans out of the challenger and do the swap. I will use factory bell housing. People gave me mixed stories on it, I'm glad I got the truth.

My ecm was flashed by arrington performance to a manual tune. It works but is far from perfect, sometimes it acts weird and stalls if I'm not carefull, other times it works perfect.

Don't have the time to mess with it right now, but if I had I would remove the oem computer and run megasquirt ignition.

You won't bee to do this yourself, not sure if the 1500 program can be trans deleted, but an option that migth work is a 2500 manual trans PCM (or at least the program). 2500 the hemi was available with a stick shift and the wiring, etc isn't really different except for lack of EGR (if I remember right).

So I can find a 2500 manual and use that trans if need be? (NV3500_4500) and I would have the codes / trans control. Or run a stand alone like belgique mentioned
