I have the quad headlights. I do not have projectors in my truck. I need something brighter and I don't want to buy projector headlights. I hear a lot about opt7 lights but I know there are other brands like kensus and Cree out there. What is everyone running and is it worth it? I have the 9005 low beam.

A lot of guys run the opt7 in their Rams and say they're a big improvement over stock.

But there are a few that say they saw little to no improvement as well.

If you have the quads, you don't have 9005 low beam bulbs, those are the high beams. Your lows are H11. The projectors for 16/17 use 9005 for both Lows and Highs.
If you live in a climate that gets snow, stick with halogens for the lows, Sylvania ZXE or Phillips Crystal Vision Plus(the heat from halogen bulbs keep your headlights thawed).
There is a lot of debate of excess light scatter with LEDs in halogen housings.
I run Opt7 in the fogs and AutoLED in the Highs for on demand lighting when needed.

So 9005 is high beam and h11 is low beam? Okay that's good to know.

I currently have the newer Opt-7 FluxBeam-X LEDs in my Black Quads. They are a MAJOR improvement over the halogen bulbs.

Check out my install and review of the Opt7 leds. The thread has pictures of them compared to the halogens and also night pictures to show how awesome they are.

Well I discovered 2 things about LED headlights and my Ram.

1. You DONT have to remove the grille to remove the heads.
2. With projector headlights (Rebel and the like) you need a headlight with forward facing elements.

So after installation the lights were a lot brighter... but there was no forward projection of light. I had about 6 feet of light in front of the truck. But looking at the lights you wouldn't have guessed. Also there isn't enough room to install these in the high beam location. The Opt7 heat sink is too large. If you cut some of the plastic out it may work.

Oh well. Time to get some zxe's I guess.

i just removed the grille and headlights to replace the bulbs only to find out I had the wrong size... but how do you go about doing it without removing the grille??

I feel like even with my stock headlights that I don't have forward projection of my lights. That's the issue I have right now. my stock halogen bulbs are not very bright and don't extend very far. I have LED pods in my tow hook holes but they only go so far too but definitely out reach my headlights

Just need a long extension for the bottom bolt

But it is easier to just take the grill off IMO
