I bought some OPT7 running board led strips for my 2026 3500 Cummins. It's a Lone Star, if that helps. I believe the Lone Star is essentially a Bighorn level 1 + with the gooseneck/5th wheel prep group.
I was planning on tying into the trailer brake harness using on of the adapters that plugs into the harness and gives a 5 pin flat connector (I intend to cut off that flat connector and solder/heatshrink the connections.)
For the courtesy light function, I plan to tie into the lamp in the footwell.

Curious if anyone has done this on a new truck and whether tying into the trailer wiring harness is going to cause any issues. This truck's primary job is hauling a dump trailer, so I don't want to compromise trailer wiring. I searched around, didn't find anything for the running b oard LEDs on 25 or 26 models.

I have the same one on my 2023 2500. I ran the plug through the tailgate and plugged it into the receptacle on the left side of the bed near the tailgate. This way it does not interfere with the trailer wiring; I tow a bassboat nearly every weekend. I also mounted mine with earth magnets, so if I needed to use my spare, I wouldn't have to mess up the light pulling it off.
