He thinks that could be the biggest issue. I could try switching it from 24db to 12db.

Yeah but he didn’t email you a list of instructions on how to set that amp up to that single Stealthbox?

Cuz see I noticed that you had your amp input set to high instead of low. I don’t know that much about amps and stuff but those instructions I posted, that was their exact instructions for me.

He said the low position is for if you have an aftermarket radio the has preamp level outputs you want to use the low.
If you are using speaker wires to get the source like what we did by tapping into them with the RCA adaptors you want to use the high setting.

Have you tried sending signal from a different source (iPod, CD player, etc.) to the amp to see how that sounds?

No, not yet. I fortunately have a company work truck that I’m in 95% of my driving time. And I unfortunately get to enjoy my ram very little. I’ll spend a little more time checking things out tonight in the garage.

You refreshed my memory...lol. There’s only one set of inputs on the XD600, and the tech support guy that I talked to said that the amp will recognize what the signal is coming to it and adjust itself accordingly. In other words, the same place you would hook speaker wire connections to via RCA wiring adapters, is the same place you would hook low inputs to from the preouts of an aftermarket stereo.

I’m no expert on this by any means, but from my understanding, and this is straight from the owners manuals for the XD amp; the way we hooked up our amps it’s considered high voltage. The high voltage is from 2-8 volts. I believe you check it by simply testing the voltage output of the wires you tapped into to get the signal. I have not personally done this test, but I will tomorrow night.
I remember reading someone checking the voltage and it being close to 8 volts, or at least it was in the high range of 2-8.
When I talked to the JL tech guy he initially said it needed to be on Low. But when he went over the settings again, he said high. And like I said before, they way I understand the manual, it should be on high.
I think having it on low just amplifies it more?? Tomorrow night I’ll be able to play with everything more, and I’ll see if I cause an explosion or loud pop if I switch it from high to low while playing music.

I haven’t used this particular amp but my guess would be that, without resistance, the factory system is barely putting out any voltage on that connection. If that’s the case, the amp won’t really have anything to amplify.

Definitely take a minute to measure the output voltage before making any other changes. If the output voltage is very low, nothing you do at the amp will help much.

I turned the import sens down a bit. It helped to clean up the sound. I wasn’t able to use my voltmeter though. I don’t know if it’s broken or what. I wasn’t able to pick up anything other than the power going into the amp.

I’ll have to go back through my emails again and see but the way I’m pretty sure I was told to set my input sensitivity was to unhook the speaker wire from the box, start with the input sensitivity turned all the down I think, play a 50Hz sine wave tune, take a volt meter, set it to read voltage, put the probes on the wires, turn the volume of the radio up to where the bass level stops increasing, and then turn your input dial clockwise and stop when you reach the target voltage which for me was like 34.6.

That’s why I said man, email the tech support and have them email you the complete instructions to set that amp to your Stealthbox. I did that, and mine works excellent, and haven’t changed a thing since then.

Yeah, those instructions they sent you are the same instructions that came with the amp and what’s available online on how to hook up a JL amp. No need to try and find the email.
I just need to to go buy a new voltmeter because mine obviously doesn’t work since it’s not reading anything from the speaker outputs or speaker inputs for that matter.

Yeah but you have a XD600 powering a half’a Stealthbox. I would think you would need specific install instructions for that amp to that box.

Should just have it on DC voltage.

It’s the same set up process, but setting it to a lower voltage. 31.6
That’s from talking to the JL technical support.

Picked up a new voltmeter. My input sens was still too high. Dialed it down to 31.6 with the radio dial at volume 30, drastically better.
All other settings stayed the same.

Amp that’s rated for 600 going to a sub that’s rated for 500 seems like a good combo. Just have to dial it back a bit ;)
