got in my truck today after work and the screen said it had updated the software. The climate control now has rear controls that don’t seem to do anything and my interior temp says it’s set to -1 (no units indicated) no matter what I change it to. Great. At least it’s hot outside and I might set it to max A/C anyways! Hope they get that resolved before winter.

Do a manual reboot. Simultaneously press the volume and tuner buttons and hold for 20 seconds or until the system goes into reboot.

Guess I’m making an assumption you have these (highlighted) analog dials.

Update, truck was normal this morning. No reboot needed.
If you ever have to change the battery or disconnect it,the truck will do similiar things, don't be freaked out, just give it time to reboot everything back to life

I do, I guess I’ve never turned the one on the right!
BTW: mine went through an update today. Took a couple of tries to get it back to normal. Think of these infotainment systems as your phone or tablet. Any update requires a reboot.

Mine asked yesterday after I parked and shut the motor off, if I wanted to update now. So I clicked on yes, got out and shut the door. Haven’t been back out - will it update with the truck shut off and parked?

I would hope so. I can't imagine driving down the road, and the truck updating firmware, then doing reboots of modules.

Yes it will. Don’t think an update will begin while the truck is running. I had been driving, parked to run an errand, came back and it was at 81% complete when I got in. Let it finish the update then had to reboot a couple of times to get the screen back to the settings I keep it on.

This may be a dumb question, but here goes.....

I have a 2018 Express. Does it auto update, or do I have to have certain settings for it to?

It has a U-Connect 8, if that means anything.

Asking because I don't want it updating, or the mother ship having any way of connecting to my truck. It works great as is, I don't want them messing with it.

The main thing I would like changed is the immediate jump to 1600+ rpms at cold startup, and I doubt any update would address that.

I went out and started it up later in the day and the way the center screen slowly came up indicated it had updated and was refreshing indicates it did fine. I had just wondered if I might have to sit there and let the truck idle awhile while it did its thing.

There is nothing you have to do, but as other folks said, it may take as long as a day before everything is normal again.

Looks like the only thing I lost was I had a screen prompt at the top where I could turn the surround camera on when pulling in to park in drive. I like that for parking to stay off of curbs etc. Had to think a couple of minutes how to put that back but it finally came to me.

Sorry to be a week late to this. Mine did the same thing last week. It was janky for a day, but the next day it was back to normal. I guess they did an update, realized it was messed up and fixed it the next day.

Mine has tried updating 3 or 4 times with error saying it failed. Not sure how many times it will try before I have to take it in to dealer to have them do it manually. One of the symptoms I had was the radio would not turn off when opening the door after shutting engine off. It would go off on its own after a couple of minutes after doors closed. Also sometimes the radio would just have this loud buzzing noise, can't remember what I did to stop it. anyone else experience this?

I got the updating message yesterday. After the update completed, the HVAC looked totally different with just a graphic slider that wouldn't work for the temp control and no temp setting numbers.

Then this morning the HVAC display looked like it did before the update and seems to work ok.

Just weird!
