Sold my house June 19th and used some (most) of the proceeds to pay off my truck. First vehicle I've had paid off since I was 19, which lasted all of a couple months before I was into another payment on a different truck. I will be keeping this one a very long time. Only 11k miles and I bought the lifetime max care warranty. Won't be financing another truck for a long time(Hopefully ever). Anyone else pay their rig off?
And yes I bought another house but it made more sense to pay the truck off than put it down on the new house for my situation.

Congrats, looking forward to having mine paid off this summer, dumping all my spare money into the payments haha, but this way I'll have paid it off in less than a year from buying it :favorites13: Who needs money anyways? The bank's got lots :naughty:

With very few exceptions, getting stuff paid off / being debt-free is the way it should be.

Came to TX in 85 with $65 and 2 suitcases that contained all my worldly possessions. Had a job in construction. $6/hr.

Drove some 'well used' cars, lived in a 'very well used' trailer,,,

Pay stuff off, use it as down-payments/trade-ins, rinse/repeat.

All my homes (except current) were 'fixer-uppers' Did 95% of the work myself,,,

Now, with everything else paid off,, I've kept the RAM loan on purpose.

Why? Leveraging it - Using the $ for other higher-yielding investments. (Paying 1.9% for 3 yrs on the truck.)

I (now) find it 'odd' when shopping for cars that folks want to start out by telling me how much my monthly payments will be,,, and nothing else,,, I know a lot of folks look at it that way, but to me, I need to know the specifics,,, how they came up with that number, exactly what each item costs, Interest rates, terms, etc etc.

Perhaps looking only at the monthly payment amount is simpler, but there's a lot more to it than that if a person wants to get ahead in life.

Still owe on the truck but the wife's car is paid for. All we owe is mortgage, truck and probably a hospital bill for my son being born I'm not sure what that's going to cost yet and I'm afraid to look!

Congrats by the way.

Uh that must feel good, I'll be paying for another 5 years. I've been putting as much money as I possibly can on my line of credit which I used to build a detached garage, pvc fence and deck on a new house that my wife and I purchase 18 months ago. 7k to go! Lol

U sir. You have it right. I did the same when buying my truck. They tried getting me into a sport or laramie at twice the cost. Espically long term. They had a hard time understanding i wanted base truck with few options since alot was gonna be swapped with mods. 8 years at 1%. 62 bucks a week. Nice and cheap. More money for ither stuff.

Exactly, when I was shopping for mine all anyone wanted to do was throw a monthly payment in my face and get me to agree to it, one dealer even refused to tell me the actual price of the truck! :flipthebird: I told every dealer I looked at that I was only interested in negotiating the full price of the truck and that we'd figure out financing after we've agreed on the price. Worked out nicely in the end, got a great deal on my truck. I actually could of sold it the day after I bought it for more than I paid :naughty:

I was $4800 away from paying off my 2012 Titan when I walked into the Ram dealer. A week later I was in my new Ram. I always tell myself that this is the last truck for awhile but I've had a payment every month since August 2000 when I bought my first brand new vehicle.

Congrats on getting your truck paid off!!! It is a nice feeling.

Our Ram is the first car payment we've had in about 7 or 8 years. It was nice not having one. But, we finally had to give in and do it. Now, unfortunately, we're going to have 2 car payments since some crackhead ran a read light and totaled my Land Rover. :(

I have great credit, and it amazes me that some of you can get 0 or 0.9% interest. Military or what? Lowest I could get was 2.9 for new around here.

Truck is paid off (06), motorcycle is paid off (11 Triumph Rocket Roadster), boats are paid off (06 Bayliner 20ft on the lake and 03 Wellcraft 26ft Sportsfish on the ocean), Mortgage is all paid a couple years ago. Still have a couple grand on a credit card but I always will. 40 years old last month and now putting away for retirement.

Sent directly from my thoughts using tinfoil antennas and a stainless mixing bowl helmet.

Solid hemi ram. Wish I could be there by the time I'm 40 and I may except for the mortgage which is the biggest payment. As long as I have it paid off by the time I retire I'll be good. 31 now with 30 year mortgage. Plan on paying extra but with kids and life you never know so worse case scenario I'll have it paid off when I'm 61 and even though I'd like to retire tomorrow 62 is a realistic goal.
