Paint code doesn't match

I installed running boards today. I could barely get in it's soo tall, and my wife couldn't get in at all with her bad knees. It was more of a pain than I had hoped, especially on a gravel driveway. I had to chase the bolt hole threads since they'd never been used but other than that, it was pretty straight forward. I also touched up some paint on the bottom of the pinch welds but they're in really good shape for an 8 year old truck.
The underneath has a good coat of undercoating, although I'm not a fan of the black tarry stuff. I'm going to remove the looser stuff and give everything a good coat of fluid film. But I'm hoping to get it into the shop for this. I'm getting too old to crawl around on my shoulder blades, lol.
I also ordered a code reader. My money on is on an O2 sensor.

Very nice. I have the same style steps with the extra 3rd step to access the bed and I absolutely love them. They look great, don't get slippery when wet and that big step area is just so nice to step on.

A 3rd step for the bed? Man, wish I had known this earlier. I guess I'll continue to use the rear tire as a step
Today, when it stops raining, the rear headrests are coming out. Too much of a blind spot. I'll do the hook mod while I have the seats unbolted so I can put the headrests back on if I ever have any passengers.

I skipped the back seat mod for now but got the head rests off. The truck feels much more open and safe. I also got my code reader and the check engine light is a small leak in the evap system. So either the gas cap or that little pump jimjam on the gas tank.

My center head rest at the back just pulls out after pushing the button, but not sure on the outside ones. I took the center out as I sometimes would carry 14ft base boards in the sliding window and save messing with the racks when I was finishing the house.
That inverter will not run a hair drier, , I just hang my head out the window.
I would have to read my book, thing it's 400 watts, so about 4 amps . I seem to think in the back of my fuzzy head that the inverter is not in the box with the plug, you could tell with a meter when truck is running.
maybe under passenger seat, there is something there on mine,
could be the factory stereo sub woofer amp?

Re the code, I am not a expert on that, but when leak checking, check the intake manifold bolts ( cap screws) I hear they can be loose

I'm dealing with the P0456 and 457 codes along with the Check Gas Cap error on my 2015 2500 with the 6.4L. Tried 3 different gas caps, no joy there. Replaced the leak detection valve that installs on the charcoal canister and that cleared the codes and the gas cap message, but that creates a new problem, can't get gas into the tank without the pump shutting off. I'm not a big fan of just throwing new parts at the problem hoping it fixes it, but in my mind the charcoal canister being clogged seems to be the most likely culprit on my truck so I'm going to replace it next weekend. If that doesn't fix it I'll take it to a local shop to diagnose, I'm not up to dropping the gas tank to get to the top of it.

Regarding the subs, small 8" subs can be surprisingly effective if they're installed in the right enclosure. The best sounding subs I've ever heard were the two 8s installed in a bandpass box in my 98 Mustang. Those things were so tight and punchy, absolutely perfect for the rock and metal I listen to.

Might want to arm yourself with the newer cab vents before you do the seat mod. Replace them when you have the seat out.

Yeah, after the runner boards install, my neck could use a break. I cleared the code and will see if it comes back. If not I'll replace this. The install doesn't look too bad but I may have to grow another elbow in my right arm

I know speaker driver tech has come a long way since the 70s. Honestly, until my hearing clears up from the airbag deployment when i hit the deer, it won't make a difference anyway.

Yeah, I saw a video about that. I don't see any evidence of leakage from those vents but I'll grab a couple anyway. I DO see evidence that the third brake light gasket is leaking (or has leaked in the past) so I've got one of those on order as well.
This seems to be a solid, good running truck. Just little fiddly bits that the previous owner didn't want to mess with I guess.
I gotta say, my '14 2-door 1500 rarely had any issues in the 9 years that I drove it. It had the broken manifold bolts, which were a pain to fix, and once the steering lost communication when it was 40 degrees below zero, but that's it. I'm hoping this truck will be the same once I address the current issues. I'm still getting used to the four doors, though. It's not as nimble as my 2-door.

Soo....the truck wouldn't start last night. I thought, well that's it, the gremlins have taken over, it was dead as a door nail. I put the charger on it and immediately discovered what happened. Apparently the wife accidentally discovered the switch for a huge bank of Rough Country LEDs across the grill and didn't realize it. They were on from 9AM until she went to start it at 5PM. I guess LEDs aren't as efficient as they claim?
She's charged this morning and ready to roll [I hope]. That batt is dated 3/25 so not too shabby. I'll clean and grease the connectors this weekend just for good measure.

LEDs are much more efficient...but not magic.

I was looking at tuners for this truck. Wow, not a small investment. I'm just looking for a little more pep. It has the power but seems to be in 'old man mode" which is what I am, but still. It feels like the accelerator lags.

Disconnect the battery over night, then drive it aggressively so it learns that for throttle and transmission. The other thing that makes them far peppier is to drive them in Tow Haul mode. Sort of the sport setting for a pickup.

Seriously? That sounds great, thanks! I remember when I bought my '14 2-door sport, the battery went dead right after and it sat for a couple days. And it ended up being very peppy. I'll also try tow-haul mode in the morning.

Tow-Haul mode is awesome! I'll still do the battery reset but for now it's very peppy.
