so i am going to be replacing all of my shocks in the next month or so and figured while i have it apart might be a fun project to paint my calipers. so a few questions...
1. whats the best method to go about painting the calipers so that they last?
2. what is the best paint to use?
3. what color should i go with? I have rockstar 3 rims on my blacked out truck and this will be the only splash of color i have so i want it to be bold but not ricer looking. I thought about possibly yellow, blue, orange, or green.

thoughts? Pictures of my truck attach for help

Man we must have totally different trends where I live because you literally named off just about every color that you'd see on a "ricer" only missing pink.

Not sure on color but Duplicolor sells a whole "Caliper Paint Kit" online and at Pep Boys, AutoZone etc. Comes with everything you need. They also sell just the spray paint cans aswell. It's made specifically for painting calipers.

the caliper paint kits work very good. I have used them on several vehicles. they hold up pretty well and are fairly inexpensive. color is personal preference but I only like red for calipers or silver if you want to be subtle and just clean up the look of them

Red. And make sure you prep them good before painting

I've been very happy with the G2 caliper paint kits that I've used in the past. I've always had a nice smooth paint finish once it's cured. The Duplicolor kits are also good but I've found they don't hold up as well as the G2 kit did over time and colour retention considering how often I was cleaning them to remove the brake dust and road grime.

Get a can of break cleaner, take brake calipers off, clean em with brake cleaner, dry em, hang caliper from any hard point under there. And spray em with duplicolor caliper paint.....1- light coat, 1-2 medium wet coats.... drys in 20 min depending on temp nd humidity.

Shouldnt have to mask anythinf unless you have no self control with the can as it has asjustable tip

I always use dupicolor paint. Good stuff.

I spary them off with brake cleaner. A LOT of it.

Then sand them, then clean them again.

Then primer
Paint 3-4 coats
Clear 2-3 coats.

Thanks for the responses guys.

I have also considered maybe OD green. Think it might be cool with my blacked out theme since itd be a darker matte color.

I should have added i hate red haha

Even though you hate red I still vote red lol. Ok but, out of the colors you mentioned and hating red I vote yellow... give it that rumble bee vibe. Honestly I think yellow would be pretty dope

I used the duplicolor brake caliper kit. I was going to buy the G2 kit, but read a lot of positive reviews on the duplicolor kit for half the price. I think it came out great.

sorry that 2 of the pics are sideways...annoying.

I'm a painter, by trade. Go to a proper paint store and see what they recommend. There are lots of industrial paints that will out perform the crap you buy in a spray can at the local hardware store.

I have some red caliper paint leftover from my CTS Cadillac days. Ordered Yellow, going to mix a little red into it so it's going to be a custom yellow/orange color when I'm done. I'll post pics in a couple of weeks when it's done... Here'sIMG_20180828_082158131_HDR.jpg a before pic

I’ve always had luck with just a normal rust paint from a can. Clean well and two coats of paint.

I went with G2 on my Ram (red) and my wifes' Charger (orange). Yeah, it costs more but the results are fantastic, and I have gone the rattle can route in the past. No comparison in my opinion.
