Been thinking a lot about purchasing a parts truck recently. A 2018 PW with a blown engine or some crash damage to be specific (don’t have one picked out yet). And I’ve been wondering if anyone would be interested in buying the parts that I don’t need to help offset my cost. If anyone has experience with doing something like this, your input would be appreciated.

If you live in Indiana or somewhere close by and are serious about this we can talk more. I have mechanical experience but never bought a parts vehicle before. Share thoughts please and thank you.

I see a lot of people list their left overs on marketplace. List it for $1,234 and then in the description just say something like "DM me what you need and I'll let you know if its still there" and if you have it you negotiate from there. Engine/trans/wheels are usually the first things to sell.

If it's not selling there you could always list on ebay, but then you have to mess with shipping.

What parts do you need? Unless it is something significant it probably isn't going to be worth it. Also be prepared to sit on what is left over for a long long time.

That’s exactly what I’m afraid of. I want to have this thing for maybe a month at the most. Just get the parts off it that I need and get rid of it. I guess my goal would be to get one or two other guys who could agree to split the cost and be able to pull parts off it as needed. It might be a long shot but figured I’d ask and see if anyone is interested

Just my experience with buying and selling used parts over the years. Most likely a huge PITA to try get a group of people to go in on a parts vehicle. Not sure exactly what parts you need, but is buying an entire vehicle needed for what you want or could you buy the parts individually? If you really need/want a complete parts vehicle just buy it, pull the parts you want, and go from there. As already mentioned just plan on having the thing sitting around for awhile, and then you have to decide at what point in time do you send it back to the junkyard.

^^^^this

You clearly want a few of the parts, but not all. Chances of someone wanting what you DONT want and paying you enough to make it a wash will be…well…a miracle.

I would just hunt around salvage yards for the parts I wanted, Unless you have acres of land to park old wrecks, No one will want bent body's and frames and ripped seats.
Or if they do ,they will be 1000 miles away .

The parts I always want are the ones that everyone else wanted and already gone.
