I have heard and read that somewhere someone has put a 2004 pcm in a 2003 truck. Can anybody tell me how this is done and what all I need to do it?

IDK what is involved but you will want the 05 PCM not the 04.

05 has more tuning capabilities, 04 is a odd year like the 03 but doesn't have that 2 computer crap

Ok, well does anybody have advice or wiring schematics on how to do this. I really need to be able to do this so I can tune this truck when it goes under boost.

What's your plans ?!? There are many many options to make big power and run well with a factory 03 pcm.

You better be planning to get a different trans too

I'll run this trans, until it blows then I'll figure out what the best one to run is. I've considered a 6 speed manual swap

Yep, trans won't hold near that. Maybe a fully built 4l80 swap

TCI also has a standalone 6sp based on a 4L80E. Stood up to a stroked 440 in an old Road Runner so I think it'll handle what you want to throw at it.

Well, if you go stand alone trans, it makes the 03/05 swap very simple. The top three plugs C1, C2 and C3 are identical to the 05 plugs. You will need to add 8 wires. Two are grounded, two splice into existing wires and four will be pinned into empty holes in the three plugs. All that's being added is the 2/1 and 2/2 O2s wiring. As for trans I chose to go with a 46RH/A518. The trans bolts to the hemi, however a special flexplate is needed or a engine/trans spacer. (PATC) A 05 manual trans starter is also needed. Edit: the A518 is the same length as the 545 and uses the same driveshaft. I had to slot the trans mount about 3/8 of an inch to bolt to the trans using the 545 mount.

^ agreed. Dont get an 04. I have an 04 2500 hemi and want to swap to a 2005 so that i can unlock it all. With the 04 you can tune the engine a little but with an 05 you can change everything possible such as tranny pressure and shift points, which is huge. Either that or with an 04 you can run a superchips to tune the tranny and then run a diablosport on top of that to tune the engine, or at least thats what ive heard here.

That's easy enough, buy a 05 pcm and have your VIN flashed. Remove your 04 pcm and plug in the new 05 pcm. This will get up and running. If you have cruise, AC and other factory accessories then they will need to be included in the flash. The wiring that I researched (service manual pin-outs) shows 04 and 05 to be the same wiring. Actually as I have stated the 03 is same with the addition of the 2/1 and 2/2 O2s. And of course the separate TCM will then need to be integrated into plug c4. Good luck..
