Hey I'm wondering how many of you out there with 3rd gen Rams have tall canopy's on your trucks? I'm moving across Canada and am weighing out my options on how to plan the trip as I am driving and need to take the old lady's car and some of our stuff. Wondering if a canopy is something I'd end up leaving on for long or wanting to take it right back off and put my backrack and tonneau back on.. For the $2500 the one I am looking at costs. If you got one lets see some picks so I can get an idea of what mine would look like?

I don't know about a tall one but I have the Leer 100XQ on mine. Was never a fan of them but I actually like this one and have gotten a lot of compliments since installed. Nicest one available in my opinion.RamFL14-11of1_zpsc71963d6.jpg

Yours does look good but I don't know if it's for me, and I kind of need the height of the taller one. I dunno I'm happy with my backrack and truxedo but I don't want my stuff stolen during the nights in hotels/motels. I'm kind of limited as uhaul only offers an open flat deck to auto tow

Hahaha I don't know that I would've noticed it had you not mentioned it, but seeing these pictures is making me really consider it

You might be able to buy and own a small enclosed trailer for that price (used). I would go that route, and buy a bed cover and call it a day. Or just rent a big trailer from uhaul and turn it in after the trip.

Caps are tough to sell used. I wouldn't buy one unless you really think you want one. If you're going to rent a trailer to tow the wife's car just lock your stuff inside her car.

Or have her drive the car while you pull a trailer. Will only cost you the extra gas of her car and possibly some hand radios for communication.

I leave my '97 ARE cap on 95% of the time....it is similar in height and shape to the one ST-8 posted. It is higher than the cab but not so high I can't fit in a 7' high garage door and the extra height gives a larger viewing area for the rear view mirror. It locks well enough to keep casual thieves out but wouldn't keep the pros at bay. The cap weighs about 150 lbs and is awkward to move even with a helper. I set up a lift system in my barn for setting, removing and storing the cap. Evem though I am fairly diligent keeping foam weather sealant between the cap and truck, abraision still occurs scuffing either paint or plastic rub rail on the truck....just a few other things to consider if you haven't had a cao before.

Yeah that's the thing I know I won't get anything back for it so I may just go with what I have and fit what I can in the car and the box of my truck and get rid of what doesn't fit. Just kinda concerned for my gen and snowblower and tools cause that stuff Id really like to take
