Pups are smart and know where to go in these situations ;)

Cats on the other hand...meh... my ex got the kitty.
I should expand on this...

My Angel then suckered her Dad into getting a pair of 8-week old feline littermates 2-years ago because she needed kitty's at Dad's while she's with me 50% of the time.

What can I say, she's my Princess (and, I'm a sucker!!!).

Yup, mine too! Though “Cat” was one of the cooler cats! Definitely was an outdoor cat! He passed 2 years ago at 24 years old…hunting and killing to the end!

I do like FeLions...they are unique in their characters and needs.
Fighters always, and full of catitude, too!

I had a manx back in the day who was abnormally large and was polydactyl on all four paws, and took it upon himself to take down anything he could in the neighborhood..lol
Our neighbors cats and a dog got the blunt end of his stick, and I'm surprised my cat didn't get a .22 in him for the crap he pulled...lol

We got visits from the Animal Control Officer a few times because of complaints, and once he brought the Bi-Law Officer with him as well to serve us a fine and then demand that we either put him down or chain him to a post in the back yard if we were going to maintain him being an outdoor cat.

Long story-short.... our next door neighbor had a Doberman, gorgeous dog, but a real j_a..cK-A-zz, and the owners kept him grumpy because they wanted a vicious dog...

It was summer time in Port Hope, and we had my cat on a 40' chain with a dog harness attached to him while in the back yard. The Doberman launched over the fence to attack my cat. My Mom and I were standing at the back window looking out and seen our cat jump straight up and land on the dogs back and started to rapidly bite and scratch his ears, face and flanks.

The dog did grab him hard and tossed him off, but he jumped back on and got the dogs eye; destroyed his one eye, blinded him for life in that eye!
All this was seconds to happen; Mom and I ran outside and the dog was whimpering and bleeding from his face and tucked in the corner of our yard.

My cart was growling and hissing like I had never heard him before, and he too was bleeding, from his flanks and limping a bit. The dog put some teeth punctures in him and got his hind leg, too.

Police came and so did Animal Control; the neighbor was losing his mind that his dog was blinded and ripped up, and screaming to have my cat put down and us charged, plus us to pay all the vet bills.

The Cop laughed, looked at my cat in a dog harness and chained in the backyard and commented that this dog jumped the fence and attacked my cat. Self defense!
He also said that the neighbor was paying our vet bills, too.

It's a small town and everyone knows everyone there, especially the Police.
The neighbor wasn't taking this to court; he knew better, he'd lose!

A momma cat with a litter of young ones is the best rat killing machine you can have on a farm.
We always had a couple female cats on the farm, and we never had a rat problem.

Me too. I'm on my 4th Ram w/hemi, all of them "ticked" (at least until engine was well warmed up) and all were great trucks, replaced at around 120k miles except the new one. I'm saying fagettaboutit.

My 2012 Ram 1500 started ticking about 150,000 miles. At 240,000 got bad miss. Disassembled the 5.7, front lobe of cam worn practically off. Everything else in great shape. Doing total rebuild because of milage. Three of the exhaust manifold bolts were broken off on both sides. These cause a tick sound also.
This begs the question, what is the practical life of a roller lifter and camshaft? I've seen flat tappet cams badly worn after 80-90K in some engines. Years ago when you found a small block Chevy down on power it was often a worn camshaft.

Dusty

You're referring to GM's soft cam era from the mid 70's through to the mid 80's.
We were sticking 268 Comp cams in the 350's and Comps 260 cam into the 305's on a daily basis back then.
You couldn't get a factory replacement cam to use,so GM was even authorizing the Comp cam replacements.
My older cousin was shop manager of the local GM shop back then, and after school i'd go over there and pick up extra money doing cam swaps on trucks.
Back then it was about a 4 hour job to do a cam swap on a smallblock Chebby

The only thing worse was a Cobra Chicken / aka Canada Goose,:Big Laugh:.
We used to have a couple of Canada Geese that always nested by our dugout in the spring, and nobody or other animals even went close to the north side of the dugout in the spring, even the coyotes and foxes gave them geese a wide birth :Big Laugh:

Actually, no. I was referring to 265, 283, 327, and early 350s.

I had a '63 Bel Air (70K) with a 327 350 HP motor and after a lifter collapse from a completely worn through lifter bottom, I found the camshaft has lost a lot of meat.

Back in “the day”, probably 11 or 12 years old, my friend and I jumped out the door of his dad’s van into a gaggle of about 6-8 geese, while he was in a hardware store! It was certainly a learning experience! All I can compare it to was like having a half dozen vise grips attach to my thighs! We were screaming loud enough for his dad and a couple others to hear us and shoo them away! 45 years ago, still scared of them demon birds!

Apricot has been glued to my side for about 6 years now! She was my ex’s dog! She chose me in the divorce!
When you guys made Apricot choose….you had beef jerky in your pocket didn’t you. And you gave the dog some about 5 minutes before you made it “decided” who it wanted to go with….

We had an old pet pig we used to ride as kids ,and one time he wandered around onto the geeses side of the dugout, and you never seen a pig run as fast as he did when them pair of geese went after him,my Dad and i were splitting a gut laughing at him,and that old hog got mad at us for laughing at him,and he consequently put the run on Dad and me :Big Laugh: He stayed mad at me and dad for a good day,as he grumped at us every time we tried to pet him for the next day or so,my sisters and mom could pet him,but dad and me he was mad at for laughing at him:Big Laugh:

I think I have you all beat, when I lost my career I had to stay in the place I transferred to for 2 years to settle my case. Just out of boredom I got a Russian blue cat, no dogs allowed at the apartment. When I moved back home I was looking at getting another apartment, but I simply could not find one that would take this dumb cat. So I took a huge risk on a condo that was in a lawsuit just because I was stuck with this cat. Long story short I paid 110k for the condo and sold it for 350k 4 years later. I ish you not that cat made me 240k dollars which propelled my life to buy and sell several homes and 14 years later buying land in the country, all possible because of that little cat, lol. I would still be renting if not for taking a huge risk because of lil misty. Funny how something small could lead to such great things. Nobody saw this coming in 1996 real estate turning into what it did in nor call.
