So I dropped the 6.4l intake on the truck a couple of weeks ago as well as what I was told/sold was a fastman throttlebody. When driving wot no problems. When idling it seems to idle a little high. Haven't put the programmer on it to see what it is actually running though. However what I have noticed is on a medium take off it seems kinda held back and then once it hits around 2k rpm you can feel it take off like it is supposed to. I pulled it off this afternoon to put the oem back on, and noticed that it did not fully close like the stock one did. I could push the blade about 1/8" and it was closed.

With all of the gurus here I was wondering if who ever ported this throttle body or the person I got it from didn't install the blade/shaft back in a fully closed position and that is why I am having weird throttle issue? I trust Jay and his tunes and even asked the man himself and the logs didn't show anything definitive. I have also done the throttle relearn procedure and disconnected the battery.

Did you do a throttle relearn with the new one?

Kind of feels like a vacuum leak. Also, might want to re-check that the intake is bolted down correctly? Double check that it's sealed and torqued properly. If you want a stock TB to test with let me know, have one laying around.

Looking at my stock TB on top of desk here & it's not fully closed so probably a vacuum leak as mentioned.

So I threw my original unported throttle body back on yesterday and all of the issues I was having disappeared. So new question. The original throttle body is an AB(last 2 of the part number) the ported one is an AC version. I am now wondering if the electronic side of the ported TB has an issue. I'm tempted to get another oem one and swap the electronics onto the ported one to see if that resolves my issues.

The reason I was wondering about position of the blade is that when closed and sitting side by side, the ported one has a bigger air gap between the blade and the wall. I don't have another ported one to compare to. picking up another stock one shouldn't be too hard or expensive so we will see. appreciate the reply's and I cannot believe the difference the 6.4l intake makes even with the unported TB

Gone, I did then about half way through 2-3 between 1500-2000rpms I would get it all back and then some. Felt like the throttle was sticking or in a bind then all of a sudden let loose. I put my original unported one back on and everything went back to acting like before except much better performance and what looks to be better gas mileage. I do have a ARH catless headers and a borla exhaust.

sounds like you need a good tune. also the sudden power surge could mean your running lean..
