I'm saving for a few more weeks and then looking at getting a fast man TB (82mm).

Ive seen all the ported options and figured a bored option would obviously make more power.

Let me know what you run. How much of a difference do you feel or see? Any issues or stories with one? I've heard surging with the bored TB is a possibility. Anyone run into it?

Let me know it all!

Awesome glad to hear! I'll get a cam one day but right now I'm still stock cam / exhaust.

Would it hurt to upgrade to the 84 so later on when I get a cam / headers / exhaust I won't have to then?

Absolutely no, it wont hurt.
I ran a bored one on my 17 for probably 30k miles before getting a custom tune and used it with the tune!

I see you have Greene tune so I would ask Jay to be certain.

Awesome that sounds like good news to me lol I also see BoostedMotorsports on YouTube ran a 85mm bored with no issues and every once in a while he'll have a few to sell.

I'll definitely ask him when I got the mula ready to fork for one. Definitely don't want to do damage. On fast man's page he said the 84s are more for cammed / ported head applications.

Mine is a Fastman 84mm. I changed trucks to a 19 classic (with 6000 miles)and its sitting in the garage waiting on me to get it put on after fixing my vararam cover paint job!

I have a Moe's 87mm ported TB. This is the second 4th gen truck I have had it installed on. I have never had a problem with the throttle body and have noticed a noticeable increase in the performance of both trucks. I had the TB in conjunction with the other mod's I had installed. IMHO if you install a larger TB without supporting mod's I think you will see much less of an increase in performance.

Please measure the inlet and outlet diameter. I know the thru bore is 84, just curious on the Venturi.
Mine is 85mm tapered to 84mm true bore

to me
cleardot.gif

It is 84mm ALL THE WAY THROUGH.
The front is tapered to 85mm
New 84mm matching blade
4mm of the shaft above the blade is also removed.

Anything other questions?

Thank You

Wow that is noticeably different! I assume yes, but have you found this to be a good noticeable performance increase?

Im just conflicted. I can understand why the 84 wouldn't be such as big of an increase since it'll be too much air for the engine, but with people running it and saying they are getting a definite increase without supporting mods its hard to determine. Definitely don't want to buy a second throttle body later down the line. I think ill go ahead and just shoot Jay the question just to get his input on this.

Moes 87mm ported is not a true bore like Fastmans.......It's tapered to the 80mm stock bore & butterfly.

Ask Jay what his thought and this was his response.

"If you plan a cam and a higher stall speed converter I would do the 84mm

Or even without a converter on street tires and a cam the 84mm is fine."

So it seems like as long as you plan on installing a cam the 84 will do fine.

What's your guys thought though? I won't be able to do a cam and convertor or even headers and exhaust for atleast a couple years.

Hunt up Jason Duria or Kyle Tingle on High Performance Rams on facebook.Jason's building a ported throttle body that's getting some very good reviews these days.I'm running one of Dans /Fastmans true bore 84's on my cammed/and nitroused truck ,it works good ,but if I was doing it again i'd try one of Jasons throttle bodies instead.

Exactly who I'll be ordering mine from once this covid19 slows down and the exchange rate isnt so high. I ordered Jason's AGS kit in the summer and did exactly what I needed... will be supporting his throttle body as well soon!

I need to look into this. Been running a Fastman Standard (82mm) for years without issue and would like to step up to a Fastman 84mm. I've got a stock TB sitting in the basement that would be perfect to send off.

Andrew you're on a few of the facebook pages, hit up Jason about his TB. I think he starts with a new 251 throttle body, but you'd have to ask him about doing his magic on a used one.
