I have been looking at this problem for a while.
I stumbled upon an interesting concept or reason I believe it happens. And also changing oil viscosity to correct the problem.
If nothing else, it's an interesting concept and maybe an easy solution.

"So, it all finally comes down to one possible solution. The 5.7 Hemi engine is known to have a sensitivity to the condition of the oil. Chrysler has recommended the 5W-20 oil for the 5.7 Hemi engines. With this water-thin oil in a V8 engine, the oil can splash off of the crank and travel up to the cam easier."

Crash 68, I am unable to find anything that debunks the video as you stated. Maybe there is something, I just can find it. If you could post a link would be nice.
What are your thoughts about the second link and the use of 5w-20 as a possible solution?

2009 - 2012 5.7 Hemi's have an issue with Hydraulic Roller Lifters seizing up (actual roller), causing extreme damage to the Lobes on the camshaft. I should know, it happened to my wife's 2011 RAM 1500 5.7. It completely destroyed the #5 Intake Lobe on the camshaft! When this occurs you get the "MISFIRE CODE" on the scanner tool. That is an incorrect code, but the scanner tool isn't designed to pick up faulty lifters and or camshafts. All it can detect is an issues with the combustion. Thus it calls the issue a MISFIRE, even though it is not. However this issue does NOT create a ticking noise internally. There are two main reason for the infamous Hemi Tick. #1-Broken exhaust manifold bolt/s - #2 Leaking down/weak Hydraulic lifters.

I know that most ppl know that the MDS oil ports & channels need the 0w-20 or 5w-20 mixture to flow through those MDS parts as needed for lubrication

The exact same engine without MDS uses a heavier mixture, it takes 0w-30 on up to 10w-30 & it gets all the lubrication that engine needs

So in my mind, the Hemi Engine should have overhead oilers to get oil to the top end of the engine, almost as soon as the oil pump rotates.

That would eliminate almost all of the lifter/tappet noise at Start Up

Whether Uncle tony's opinion has been debunked or not is still under review, many of the debunkies have been debunked. But, what isn't under argument is that there is a problem with hemi tick and cams in general, many do not have it, but many also do have it, and some people have had it three times with three trucks I **** you not. Search for uncle tony's thread here somewhere in garage section. Looks at these threads and polls as ram forum has the unique group that attacked this by trying many different lubrication strategies.

Viscosity is one potential answer, but oil pumps pretty much equal out 5w20 and 5w30, but higher additives and better base oils may very well be the best answer.

From lubegard thread..

You could check out the synthetic oil thread for lots more info on the hemi tick and camshaft failure. You can read about oils and viscosity. Then decide if you want to adopt what other folk are doing.
