My 2019 Ram 1500 has the power deployable running boards.
Lately (warranty just ran out ) they are slow or half way out they close.
Do I need to lubricate they ?
What gives .. anyone else have this problem?

Take them to the car wash, and clean the hinges real well, also under the rocker panel. I lube mine with Silicone spray after every time I wand wash the pickup. I set them to manual deploy so I can get a good clean on them and I lube them while it is still in the wash bay. Have never had any issues with them.

It is on your Uconnect under controls. You might want to try reading the owners manual, there is a ton of useful info in there about the power boards, and quite a few otehr things for that matter.

POWER SIDE STEPS — IF EQUIPPED
The Power Side Steps will extend a step for
easier entry and exit of the vehicle.
When configured for “Auto” mode, the Power
Side Steps will deploy when any of the doors are
opened, or when the deploy setting is activated
through the touchscreen. When configured for
“Store” mode, the steps will not deploy unless
the setting is selected manually through the
Controls menu within the touchscreen.
If the vehicle speed exceeds 5 mph (8 km/h), or
if the retract setting is selected within Uconnect
Settings Ú page 258, the steps will retract.

Power Side Steps
When the Power Side Steps button is pressed on the touchscreen, the system will display the setting related to the lowering of the power side steps.

Setting Name Description
Power Side Steps
This setting will raise and lower or stow the Power Side Steps. The
available options are “Automatic” to raise and lower the Power Side Steps
and “Stow” to deactivate the Power Side Steps.

Now if I was to add amps i won’t have to option of keeping them extended right I would have to buy the molar ones instead and active thru Alfa?

I installed Aries power steps. Something to consider. Very easy install and independent of the truck systems

So I’m trying to decide if the factory steps are better than just doing the amp steps? I have a 3.0 I connect so not even sure it would be possible to have the stuff on screen. Also I think the amps have a way to use obd2 instead of door sensors. If I use ODB2 for alfa how would I have the steps work is there a splitte for something?

There are no sensors looking for impediments. They use a current sensor to detect if the motor draws too much current prior to full deployment. In other words, it's all internal.

All you do with the Amp Research power steps to keep them extended is close the door and put weight on the board and it will stay extended.

Can these be changed to open faster ?

No sir, the speed is the speed. My previous truck (F-150) had the power steps, and I knew my Ram would have to have them. I've never had a problem with the speed of the deployment in either. Unless your a first responder I don't think you will have a problem with the speed. I would be hard pressed to get out fast enough to beat the steps. :) They do have a 5 second delay before they detract, and you need to stand back just a touch when you open the door, or they will hit your leg. That's easy to remember once it happens. lol

BTW, one of the biggest reasons I have them is my wife is "vertically challenged" at 5'1", and they deploy too the perfect height for her.

Mine are running slow and retract with a failure to deploy message on the screen, lots of cleaning and lubing and they seem to be getting better, its definately a motor sensor that decides to retract due to strain etc. Anyone have to replace the motors?

My steps are acting up once again... is there a cable/plug that I should remove and clean the terminals ? Is there some form of maintenance for them ?

Were is the manual deploy switch located ?
I found the easiest way to get the side boards to deploy is to crack one of the doors open. Do the washing and then simply open the door all the way and close the door. No getting in the vehicle and messing with the control screen.
