Power steering is not equal to both sides

I have 95 model of 2500 Ram (Cummings 5.9). The problem is that is much easier to turn the steering wheel to the right side than to the left side. And while driving it strives to go right. Is there anyone with knows if it is possible to adjust that?

Best regards.

No I have not get alignment. The tires are good and it seems to be straight. But it would be good to get.

I can feel the power steering has more power to right when I try to turn the steering wheel when the car is stop.

That's why they call it an alignment.

It's either aligned to be driving straight ahead or not. Or not, it would be favoring either the right or left.

What happens when you're driving on a straight highway that isn't heavily crowned when you put two fingers at 12 o'clock on the steering wheel?

Does the truck easily track in a straight line or does it pull in one direction or another?

2wd or 4wd? You need to check everything in the front end individually. As in, disconnect the steering and check how hard it is to swivel the spindles on each side. If one side is stiffer than the other, bad ball joints. If not, then start looking at all the steering components. If nothing there is stiff, could be the pump going out.

I say this because I had the same thing happen in my '85 C10 a few months back, the steering overall got harder to re-center but harder going left. Drove from Atlanta to Glendale, AZ and back like that. 2 days later, lower ball joint failed. That could've been very bad running 90mph in the middle of nowhere...

Yes, the truck does pull in one direction, to the right, while driving on the road and it bit annoying.

I am not sure what can be adjusted to make it better.
I am changing the power steering pump but I didn't finish it yesterday evening. I am not sure it will help.

It most likely wouldn’t be the power steering pump. It would most likely be in the steering gear box. I would still get the alignment because generally you won’t get pulling unless the alignment is bad.

Yes, I agree with the alignment. It is hard for me to get one. I am living in a remote place in Iceland and it's no equipment nearby.
I am just wondering if there is some trick I can do myself.

It is not likely the steering pump. But I want to change it anyway, it is old and worn.

I sympathize with your remote challenges but that doesn't change the facts.

As far as I know, front-end alignments have been computerized for decades because of the numerous adjustments required.

Also, you might consider that operating your vehicle in a seriously misaligned state will likely cause excessive wear on tires/front-end components and potentially premature failure of these components.

In fact, it could become dangerous if you're driving faster or farther than the local store, you could be putting yourself or others at risk.

That said, I know on my '21 Ram, there's a small UV joint connecting the steering column to the steering box. I saw and handled a seized unit when I was chatting with a Dodge mechanic working on my truck. I'm told that eventually, it's almost a guaranteed point of failure.

I would expect the failure of that UV would affect steering in both directions but I don't know this to be fact.
