I've watched my friend work putting the PPF on and it looks like an art. IMHO nothing easy about it. I think that correct installation is about 90% of the job. He clay bars the entire area twice before installation and then use a wipe on the surface.

I have a decent amount of experience applying many different materials to many different surfaces, brick buildings, to 50ft murals on ceilings and for the most part - no prob. BUT I have never had my butt kicked like a sheet of ppf kicked it! The flys stuck to the fly paper hanging by their last wiggle were laughing. Beyond humbling.

The material is so expensive second tries suck.

Install being 90% of the job is maybe a bit understated, I'd throw a 98% at it and figure ya missed because dude killed it. :)

Not to be a drama queen but beware
I've seen it pull quarter sized chunks of paint from nice aftermarket spray jobs while trying to reposition (never OEM paint tho, yet). Just know how it is to be removed also.

It has cost me a lot of money and I've had to swallow my pride on many occasions learning what my limitations are.

PPF is basically a clear vinyl. So im going to treat it like a vinyl decal. How they move the PPF without damage is soapy water :)

I agree with the soapy slip and slide, brother, but Avery recommended an alcohol water mix, which I followed. Horrible. Couldn't keep up with the evaporation with the alcohol and it stuck to everything, so I then switched to soap and water, probably a lil heavy on the soap, but then that **** stuck to nothing. I was attempting front clip on Ford Focus, so the bumper, hood and grill, and associated compound curves goin down as a seamless install. 24"x60" piece, I can laugh today but I'm still not willing to throw $1500 to $2000 in materials to possibly get my truck covered. That is why I seek the best I'm imitation vinyl that we can buy. Again I'm looking for seamless install or at least a 30" roll maybe 36" roll by 75 ft, for less than anything I'm even seeing.

I was thrilled when I saw $85/roll but yeah I get it now, it's the 1" roll that is $65 to $85 per roll.

I'll will definitely get some to use under my fenders, and maybe a bit of a larger size by the foot to cover back doors, but that will probably be all for now, the whole truck just ain't gonna happen for a bit. But that will give me half hood, headlights, all doors, front quarters and behind all wheels.

Last experience was Avery's ppf that claims 1000 spf UV protection, $800 for a 24"x40ft roll I think maybe. Was a couple yrs ago, but never that one again. Lol good god.

If you can install full panels perfectly or even close, including any complex curved surfaces, I'll buy you beer the whole time we are doing mine and the week after.

You can get a 40" x 95' for $92.50 on eBay. I have done a vinyl wrap and use 9 parts water to 1 part soap. We will see he probably this weekend if it works.

I have done a vinyl wrap and a local shop I called said if you can do that you can do ppf. You'll see the results maybe this weekend if the ppf comes in the mail. I using a 2" piece for the flares on my 2nd gen and probably 4th gen. I just need to know if its better to do a door seamless or can you use more than one length. If you can use more than once length I'll show my skills on my 2nd gen door :) as I'll use what I have left to do the door. I also put a 4th gen cargo cam and Mirrors on my 2nd gen

Hey that's all bad ass, right on. I have a seam on mine, if youre close up you can see it and even then doesn't bother me at all, barely see it and when I do, i love having that stuff on my paint/truck, it works.
And I'll buy Buds all night for sharing the info 40"x90' for $100, that too is badass, and I'm all over it, truck may get that full cover yet. I still gotta get it on there, lol, Thank you
Kill them doors and post a couple pics, I'm gonna go buy me a roll, rockn! If I can't find I'm gonna hit you up for directions but I think I have the info.

I contacted a seller by the name wraps34_auto and asked if they sold anything that big and that's the price he gave me. Lol since I can do a seam I might use what's left of the 2" wide pieces and try to do the door for practice. I have to paint the truck this year so eventually it will come off :)

So youre thinking of doing many seams all 2" apart? Hmm, my initial thoughts might be that many seams might be different then one or two, but if you have a whole lot of extra why not.

But before you burn your 2" roll, maybe use it to cover any high frequency damage areas. Like headlights, fog lights, rocker panels, the area behind the front and rear wheels (I use the ppf instead of flaps). I also put it on the truck body where my feet have a tendency to strike or kick when I'm getting in and out of my truck (the bottom door sill area with the door open), especially nice when stuck in mud.

Any forward facing surface that is vertical too, the front 4" of my hood gets pinged on mine pretty hard, but I spend time at 85mph on interstate which really has a tendency to leave a mark.

Also, if you plan on covering your bumper you could use the 2" to do any deep recessed areas that maybe difficult to onesy a full bumper piece into later.

Just a couple ideas any way.

Really appreciate your eBay contact too, thank you. Cause I looked and couldn't find that material roll but I'll find him. :)

I just thought something else, if the multi seam looks good, cool rock it out, but if for any reason it doesn't flow for you you could do your doors up by just covering strike points, like the full edge where it could hit upon opening or the high points where for dings occur.

All that does nothing for UV protection tho so if the seams work then ppf!

I'll get pics on what I plan on covering. I installed a 4th gen lighted sill plate in my second gen and already scratched it so im going to cover that. The door is really just to try my skills at body panels, but if it looks good I still have to take it off this year (painting the truck on crazy this summer). Hood I'm not too worried about I sit really high ;). Anyhow waiting for the flares to come in and will post pics of both my 2nd gen and 4th gen here. My 2nd gen is always the Guinea pig (God love her :D)

I hate to keep pestering about this but eBay returned zero search results for seller:wraps34_auto

Could you see double check his username when you get an opportunity, please? Right on thank you, absolutely no hurry
