So this might be a stupid question, but I am looking at possibly trading in my '16 on a '20. The one I am looking at has everything I want, except the premium lighting. Has anyone ever had luck getting the dealer to work into the deal, swapping out the base halogen lights for the premium? Is this something they can do?

There’s no way a dealer would be able to pull this off. That headlight swap requires a different grill, filler panels below the lights, the adaptive front lighting module, and the wiring for it. Since the dealer doesn’t make custom “add on” wiring, it would require a different body harness, instrument panel harness, dash harness, and front end harness for the different connectors for the headlights. Then the matter of activating them with sales codes that won’t even be available to add to that VIN. Not to say it can’t be done much easier with some custom wiring harness after the fact, but it just isn’t going to happen with the dealer.

I am assuming you mean the LED reflector headlights that are available on the Big Horn, and standard on Laramie/Rebel.
I highly doubt any dealer will ever do this. It would require rewiring the headlights and modifying the computer programming, at minimum.

The adaptive projector LED headlights would require even more modification, like Jimmy07 stated.

Sorry dude, but if you want it, you'll have to get it factory equipped or convert after you buy.

Yes, i was referring to the LED reflectors. I didn't know the wiring was different, i just assumed the housings were the only difference. It seems like the only trucks within 200 miles of me were ordered with the stock halogens.

Without the premium lighting the trucks were downrated for highway safety as the 2019 and later trucks have such poor illumination of the highway with the dumb headlight design.
