My wife has an iphone, I have an android with Android Auto installed installed on the 2019 1500 Lonestar. If Android auto is not running and my wife plugs her iphone into the USB port to charge, her CarPlay starts immediately. Neither of us want to use CarPlay (I only use Android Auto if we are traveling and I need the maps or to see traffic). The most annoying aspect is even if we leave her phone plugged in to charge and are listening to satellite radio, the truck will automatically switch to 'media' and play default songs on her phone. I push 'radio' to switch back to satellite, but her phone will then randomly cause the radio to switch back to 'media' and continue to play the default song.

We've tried everything google offers to deactivate carplay include making changes in the phone settings, but no luck yet. I'm to the point of thinking apple must have given Ram some money to ensure that CarPlay can't be deactivated.

I have found this "feature" annoying as well. I don't have a good answer, but hopefully someone else does.

And if my iPhone is plugged into the hub USB to use Apple maps, I cannot call, because the radio tells me "no phone connected". My only solution to date is to carry a charger and use the AC outlet for charging the phones.

That is how my wifes Pacifica and my Charger are. Its kinda annoying, but I honestly don't think you can do anything about it.

We have this same issue, I ended up putting in a 12V USB Adaptor in the console for her phone, and mine plugs into the USB Port in the cubby.

Use the rear USB ports and it will not connect to the media system. Sure the cord is long enough to still use as needed.

You can disable Siri. Carplay needs Siri to work.

My wife uses apple and I am on android and we've never had any issues switching back and fourth or having one or the other plugged in. They are also both Bluetooth paired. Mine is set as primary.

Also you can buy charge only USB cables that don't include the data wires. Charge speed may be reduced. I'm not sure if fast charging uses more wires.

I've had the rear USB ports prompt to switch to a rear passengers android auto.

Try turning it off in the trucks settings. IIRC, you can select “device mirroring” or something like that. Basically it’s the app in the app section that changes to the CarPlay logo when the phone is plugged in. It should be a setting in there somewhere to disable it. If not, delete her phone from the list, but DONT delete it from her phone. When you plug the phone in, the truck won’t recognize the phone, and it won’t activate CarPlay, because it doesn’t have “permission” from the phone to use it since they’re not paired. The reason why you don’t want to unpair it from the phone is because that “should” prevent the pop-up on the phone every time asking the user for permission to allow Uconnect to operate CarPlay.
