I bought my 17 big Horn 2500 ctd in Sept last year, brand new had been sitting on the lot. MSRP was $60500, I got it for $46500. I searched Nationwide and flew down to Oklahoma from Maine to get it.

He thought about the Tradesman but he spends about 6-8 hours a day in it and thinks having more creature comforts would be nice. He also sometimes has to transport a worker and they can be pretty dirty so leather seats would be nice for cleaning but he also understands even a Hemi with leather will be pricey so he might have to settle for cloth and get a seat cover.

I bought mine from a used car dealer with just under 8000 miles. That same dealer has an identical truck in a different color with 12,000 miles for $40k. He might call about that one. He called his bank last night to get pre-approved to see what he can get. In the past year he has bought a house, his camper, and his fiancees 2019 Crosstrek, plus he has student loans so he isn't sure if he can even get a decent rate. Add to that they are getting married in 3 months and they are spending quite a bit on that. So he is waiting until he hears back from them to make a decision.
seat covers will take care of the dirty seat probs..

They might not wheel & deal if trucks are a hot commodity in your area.

If I am working out of a truck, I’d rather have cloth than leather.

Specifically what he wants is the full console. He needs that for all of his stuff that he carries. He found a 2016 2500 Cummins with 20,000 miles for $46k. Sounds like a pretty good deal but they don't have a link to the Carfax on their site so I told him to tell them that he wants to see that.

And he got his pre-approval so good to go there.

I got my 17' tradesman used with 23K miles for 37,500. There are several people that have done a full console swap on this forum. I'm sure it didn't cost almost 10k to do. Might be worth it to look into.

2500 6.4L Hemi 4.10's 'Off-Road'
My son was just told by his boss this morning that he will likely be heading to N. Dakota next week (from Pittsburgh) and taking his camper so he pretty much has to buy something Saturday. He is leaning towards a 2018 2500 6.4 with 4.10's with 12,000 miles. I'm probably going to go check it out tonight for any surprises. His dry weight on his camper is about 6500lbs so probably 7500-8000 loaded I'm guessing.

He probably won't get back here until noon Saturday and has to make the deal, sign the papers and drive it off the lot Saturday. Makes it tough to shop around.

Swapping in a console really isn't an option for him. He work 6 days a week about 14 hours a day and planning a wedding. On top of that he only has a few basic hand tools where he is and he uses his truck for work every day. Heck he even has to get permission from his boss to get a haircut cause he has to do it on company time. He had to get permission to leave early Saturday to go look at a truck that he needs to get to the job site in N.D....lol. All his vacation time is scheduled for his wedding and honeymoon in October.

I bought a 2011 Chevy 2500HD diesel in October of 2011 a month after the 2012 trucks started to hit the dealers' lots. It was in effect a 1-year old truck. Your 2018 Ram will in a couple of months be in effect a 2-year old truck.

With my truck the MSRP was over $56,000 and I bought it for $42,700 and the dealer was happy to have it sold and out of his inventory. So happy that he agreed to swap out the standard mirrors for tow mirrors and at no charge they added the GM running boards and a GM bed liner and a GM aluminum diamond plate tool box for the bed.

I did have to drive 120 miles from my house to the dealer with the truck and go past 5 other Chevy dealers but it was worth it. I spent an hour at the dealer's what with finalizing the sales agreement and doing a test drive but that was it. I wrote the dealer a check and he had the extras added and had his guys drive it two thirds of the way to my house and I got it with a full tank of diesel.

yeah. it has been $53k but they told him he doesn't qualify for most rebates so $58k is the best they will do

wow. I test drove a 2018 2500 Laramie 6.4 and the best they would do was $53k. MSRP was about $62k. This was late April

There were good deals to be had on '18s last month. Problem with dealers, they only discount when the factory discounts them.

Well they lost a sale over it. I actually wasn't looking for a Laramie but they had one there and wouldn't negotiate. The one I was interested in was a Big Horn with sport package but they couldn't find the keys for it so I never got to drive it. And they couldn't find the Laramie. They called their other locations and said nobody knew where it was but they were 'pretty sure' it was a mile up the road so I drove up there and it ended up being there. But like I said, they wouldn't budge on the price. That $53k was with the rebates I did qualify for. They wouldn't drop anything on their end. Good chance I would have bought the Big Horn if they had found the keys and had worked with me just a little on the price.

Kbb indicates 2018 2500 CTD avg used at 47 to 50k, 26k miles.

New, no miles at 53k initially seems somewhat reasonable given full warranty and new. However the minute you drive off the lot it's a 2 yr old used truck that will as a trade in would be worth 47 to 50 with an add on for low miles.

50k seems like a reasonable target price.

This was a 6.4L, not a CTD. $53k for a CTD Laramie would have been a steal around here. My son was looking at a 2018 Big Horn Sport package CTD a couple weeks ago and the best they would go was $58k (Wally Armour in Alliance Ohio). The Laramie 6.4 was at Ron Lewis in Cranberry Twp, PA

dahy13, did your kid find his truck yet? Yesterday I picked up a 2018 CTD Laramie for 22% off MSRP, here in Denver. There were a few trucks left when I picked it up, but they were moving fast. AutoNation Southwest - Sales guy was Louis (he's new, but was easy to work with). I know this sounds sales'y, but I've read a few of your posts and I know your shopping for a good deal, so I wanted to pass along the place where I found the best one.

Thanks but yeah he bought a 2018 2500 6.4 last week. has to leave for North Dakota this Sunday so couldn't wait any longer. Best he found around here was the 2018 Big Horn sport for $58k. I was trying to deal on a 2018 Laramie 6.4 and the best they would do wsa $53k. These were 2 different dealers. Saw somebody post on here yesterday about how high the CTD's were around here and the North East
