As some of you know, I'm gonna be helping my Nephew change out his radiator and coolant on his 2018 Laramie 4x4

How is the heat exchanger hooked into the coolant system since there's no 3-way valve?

Asking because he may want to unhook the coolant portion to avoid possible mixing of coolant and trans fluid.

Gonna do the radiator changeout probably Saturday afternoon. I'd like to be prepard if he wants to delete that coolant circuit.

Thanks in advance.

The rad is still held in the same way Ed.The coolant hoses to the transmission are tied into the thermostat housing and return hose off the heater core, the rad still only has the 2 big hoses on it.

So, where is the best way to bypass the coolant lines of the tmu?

Are there still those metal lines and rubber hoses going to it?

Yup still has the lines. If you buy the earlier thermostat housing without the hose connection, then run the earlier heater hoses like you did,i think that gets rid of the coolant feed to the transmission, but it's been awhile since i looked under the hood of a later 4th gen.

I don't think he's gonna want to spend the money to do the hose swap right away, just trying to get it back on the road.

I told him he could have the extra 192° Calorstat I just bought, and I would make him a gutless one out of one of my P.O.S. Motorad stats.

Yes, there is that, indeed!

I will give it a look-see.
