"
Myth: You should break in your engine with conventional oil before you start using synthetic oil.
Again, there’s no manufacturer we know of that makes this recommendation. Mercedes, Porsche, Corvette, some Cadillacs, Volkswagen, Hyundai and many other manufacturers’ cars come from the factory with synthetic oil."

There are those that say when changed every 3k, standard is just as good as synthetic

Which is your opinion, and I respect that.

But stating, "Ya can’t break a new motor in on synthetic" is just flat out wrong. If it were true, there wouldn't be OEM's putting it in new engines from the factory, including FCA.

The Harley dealers used to say that synthetic couldn't be used because it was "too slick" and the roller bearings would develop flat spots because they would skid...WHich in itself makes no sense. Plenty of claims from oil manufacturers, some of which are true, some are not. But when an OEM...who is warrantying the thing...uses it, I don't think it's an issue.

Willing to bet the engines on this laundry list are built to a bit tighter tolerances than our mass produced hemi’s ... I will agree that “can’t” was the wrong word to use in my original post

I change mine out quickly around 1k miles to remove any metal particles (burrs, leftover machining swarf, etc.) and because I am paranoid. I am sure there are millions of engines out there that went 5k on their first oil change before switching and have had no problems.

Think I did my first at 2000. Then roughly every 3000 afterwards.

I changed oil on wife’s new ride at 2000 too.

I change the oil ASAP, you never know how long a vehicle sits on a lot or what oil some dip **** put in the vehicle. First change at 1k miles and then 3k miles to remove any metal shavings that may occur when a engine is new. Then every 5k once i go to synthetic.
