I have a steering problem with my Ram 1500 5.7 2010. When you turn the wheel it feels like the power steering stops working for like a split second. I've checked the fluids, belt and rods and they seem fine to me. Could it be the pump, but shouldn't the pump make some noise it it was bad? Anyone got any ideas?

Like stated above look at the ujoints. Maybe time to replace especially if it's coated in rust.

Try lubricating the u-joint on the steering shaft.

ha ha ....if the U-joints on your tks intermediate steering shaft are tight enough they need to be lubricated and are causing steering resistance ..you need a new shaft. They're not greasable anyway...

More than likely the belt is slipping or the pump is low on pressure (or an issue with the rack). The right thing would be to do pressure tests between the pump and ram ...which is what a dealer would (theoretically) do.
