I am in the process of replacing the BCM on my 2014 Ram 2500. The BCM I am trying to put in is from a 2017 2500. The problem I'm running into is I cannot get the VIN from my truck put on the new BCM. It still has it's current and original VIN from the truck that it came out of. Thanks to @Jimmy07 for the tip on updating my app version of Alfa from 2.2.5.0 to 2.2.7.0 as there is a new feature when connected to the BCM called "VIN write" in the new version. However, when I try this option, I receive the following message, “Failed. The ECU has detected that the request contains parameter(s) with value(s) outside the allowable range.”

I have also tried connecting the the RF Hub and resetting it, which worked. Then I tried the option in the RF Hub called "BCM Replacement" and this one just tries for a while and then says "Test Failed"

I'm fairly new to this and @Jimmy07 has already helped me a significant amount, so I feel bad continuing to pester him. Maybe someone else in the community has a similar issue, a solution or others will benefit from this down the road.

I never did get this figured out. I ended up just switching back to my old BCM. Maybe a new release of AlfaOBD will have the fix? I think the problem with mine was that my truck is a 2014, I now have a 2021 UAQ radio and was trying to install a 2016 BCM. I think they changed the names of certain components and features within the BCMs and radios over the years (e.g. the name of the backup camera feature has changed). With my original BCM and new radio, I can't make the icon for displaying the rear view camera show up because the radio expects it to be called one thing, but the old BCM calls it something else.

What configuration are you trying to get working William?

I had similar Problem - @Jimmy07 help again !!
He suggested using OBDJScan to do Engineering reset on BCM.
But also use AlfaOBD BEFORE to save configuration and then again AFTER to restore a save configuration.
my BCM had different Original / Current VINs.
( I also had a bad saved configuration , restore must have gone wrong , so can't access the BCM at the moment )

If you look at the AlfaOBD, the body computer function shows many MY choices. Since you have a '14 truck and trying to swap a '17 BCM to it, it possibly could matter a whole lot. Is your ECM a '14 or a '17? Which MY selection are you using? It matters because the protocols for the comms continually change over the years and create comparability issues pretty quickly..

I know the '16 and '17 ECM's are OK to interchange, but won't work with anything else due to comms.

The comms situation looks more evident with the `15's, as they are super picky about electronics.

If you swapped '14 BCM back in and all is good I think you found your gremlin.
