I thought I had this in the bag...

New 2020 1500 Classic. I put on 255/80-17 Toyos on Tuesday and ordered a Hypertech Speedometer Calibrator to program for the 33s.
But it read "No Cal" at first. I hit their website and updated the firmware.
Then it opened up, installed a quick tune, but there was nothing in the menu for tires.

I called their customer service and they said to update it again, that my serial number showed that it hadn't been updated.
?
So I updated it again. And again. And 6 more times, four of them on a different computer.
Still no go. I'll talk to them one more time before returning it.

Anybody else have a similar experience? They guys at the local 4X shop have the opinion that it's the best gizmo for calibrating. They were trash-talking the AEV Procal like mad.

Make sure you remove any tune before returning the programmer.
I installed the Superchips F5 Flashpaq tuner, let's me change tire size, turn off MDS, disable speed limiter, etc. Works like a charm.

I had a Superchips for my 2008 JK --- really made a difference.

I did de-install the tune already. Waiting to hear back from Hypertech.

I don't know about 2020's but I recalibrated my 2015's tire size using JSCAN and an OBDLink MX and it was as easy as toasting bread.

From what I've heard they started including an anti-cal software thing in the Rams starting in 2019 ---- the Hypertech had an extra dongle that plugged into the green box behind the OBD for a work-around.

Man that's a shame even just for tire size reprogramming... they literally sell Mopar branded lift kits do they expect someone to buy that from them and then keep running the stock tire size?

Be glad you aren't trying to tune a 2020 GM ,if you want to tune it's 10speed,apparently you have to pull the trannies TCM and send it to HP to have it unlocked. The new GMs have a worse rep for tuning then FCA has

If it's a classic you should be able to program it with the Alfa tool. All rams have the security OBD port since 2018. It's easily bypassed by buying a bypass harness from KaodTech.com. long story short is buy the Alfa OBD app for $49 plus the OBD Link MX from Scantool plus the bypass harness and you should be able to adjust the tire size unless there is something I've missed about the 2020 Classic. I reccomend checking out the Alfa OBD thread and posting there. Tons of guys including myself have adjusted our tire size. This is a pic of the screens in the Alfa to adjust the tire size on a 2020. You can select from factory options or you can type in a particular size. I think there are some videos on YouTube as well. I haven't heard about a different anti tamper software for the 2019 and 2020. I have programed several codes in 2019 trucks. I haven't done a 2020 Classic yet but I am assuming they are no different.

On the bright side you shouldn't need to update for that size if you had 275/60/20 stock. 255/80/17 should be literally the same diameter.
Stock tire was 265/70-17. So I went from a 31.6" to a 33.1"

If there is a 33" tire offered as stock then there should be a way to change tire size with WiTech. It's probably a build code now ---- just have to find the different line of code from mine to one with the bigger OE tire. I did that sort of thing with my Jeep JK to enable daytime running lights.

It's shifting and running fine without calibrating. Odometer is off by 3.5% though and speedo is off by 2 mph at 70.
....warranty will last longer....

or they will void your warranty all together claiming you tampered with the odometer......the horror of it all...

That's why it would be best to find the build code for a 33" tire and let them program it in with the WiTech.

When I was working with JW Speaker to develop LED headlights for the JK they told me that they wanted to build them with DRL. Hmmmm, I thought, Canadian JKs have DRLs but not American and they're made on the same assembly line. So I contacted a Canadian dealership and had them email me the build codes for one of their units and I compared it to mine. Found the magic LMK and went to my dealership, programmed it in, and I hac daytime running lights.
The LED prototype worked great and is still in that Jeep.
