Hi there, a while back, I picked up a set of projectors and had them working on my truck for a while, they use 9012 and 9005 bulbs. I’m not sure what year this came from.
1 of the tabs was broken, but I made it work. I recently picked up another headlight assembly, to which I thought was the same as my current one. Boy was I wrong. When I went to switch over the bulbs, my 9012 bulb would not fit. The bulb tabs and the electrical connection were completely different. Has anyone tried to mix different year projector assemblies?
Is it possible to switch the electrical connection and the bulb mounting plate (looks like 3 screws) over from one another?

The assembly I picked up uses 9005 for both bulbs. I’m assuming my current projector assembly is older then the one I picked up.
Does anybody know if I simply spliced the pigtail and put the older assembly pigtail on the newer one if would still work? Appears that lightbulb mounting plate is easily removable.
In a sense, I’m trying to turn a newer 9005 projector to accept 9012. Am I wasting my time?

It was starting with the 2016 model year that Ram projectors started using 9005 bulbs in both the low and high beams.
There shouldn't be any problems with splicing the electrical connector in place, make sure to get the polarity correct in case you decide to use LEDs in the housings (doesn't matter for halogens).

I have to ask:

is the new headlight an OEM MOPAR part?

There are aftermarket knockoffs that use other bulbs and what not.

There OEM, they have the ram logo on the corner, I know the aftermarket stuff do not have the logo.
I put new low beam bulbs in, after wrecking one bulb trying to fit a 9012 into a 9005 socket lol!
My drivers side assembly is holding strong with one tab at the top. My earlier in the year plastic weld did not hold. I’ll drive for now and look back at this later in the summer, cheers ya’ll!
