This post is more of an FYI for those looking to purchase a ram or Im assuming other vehicles from Canada/Mexico. My truck was made for Canada and imported then sold at a delaership in Indiana. I didnt think was going to be an issue, but I realized today that dealership work and OEM Mopar parts purchased will not be warrantied at all since I am in the United States. I went to have a service appointment today and I need a new pinion bearing so they priced it out but also informed me that they would not warranty any part of the install or the parts if they fail. I expected not to get any warranty help (out of warranty coverage) but I did not expect the dealership to not stand behind the work that they would need to perform. I guess I am having a hard time understanding how Mopar parts or installs are different from country to country. Lesson learned. Good to know my gas cap will not be covered if it fails as well.

works the same way for us if we buy out of the States, well at least most manufacturers.

No matter where it was bought, the dealer ship should stand behind their own work & parts.

if they don't go to a different dealer. That is a cop-out of an excuse.

Good to know for sure as I had no clue before now. Either way I feel service and installs are a dealer to dealer function.

I agree, I completely understand for warranty work but mine is out ad I was going to pay all out of pocket. Ram pretty much told me to pound sand in the nicest way possible on the phone.

it's just a way to screw people really. the differences are few and minor so there's no reason the same warranty can't apply in either country

It's eh. Pronounced A.
Also, it's 'tell him to **** off'.
An American will add 'eh' thinking he knows Canadian.

It is going to a recommended driveline shop as soon as they get me an appointment. I could even get over the mopar stuff not being covered but will not let someone possibly screw something up and not have to fix it.

You got a 6+ year old truck. What warranty would still be effective besides maybe emissions? Did the selling dealer portray it as factory new and you bought it 6 years ago or was it sold as used and you made assumptions of a remaining warranty?

Dude...he said nothing about warranty coverage, and that he KNEW it had none.

He simply wanted them to do some work, and warranty the work they did and the parts they used.....they said no.

He couldn't believe they wouldn't stand behind the work THEY were ABOUT to do.

You are right, had my head up my ass when I first read it.

Yeah, that blows if they will not even stand behind dealer installed work.

Weird how they wouldn't warranty their work and parts.

I'd like to sell my truck in the US this summer. Someone down there will get a great deal, and so will I! Lol

Its all good man, they told me it was out of warranty but I already knew that when I bought it. I was more astonished that they would not warranty their work. I have heard too many horror stories about dealer techs and I have had a bad experience at this dealer before this trip.

I am Canadian, the dealer will do all warranty work and recalls if i show them my registration and drivers licence.

That being said Im sure its a hell of a lot of paper work for my dealer and honestly they do it out of courtesy, and we have a mutual respect and silent agreement where I do all my work and extras with them and spend my money there and they honor my warranty even with all my modifications and custom tuning. They even know never to flash my PCM etc. without talking to me!

Im sorry you seem to be getting the shaft :(

I was thinking the same thing, not sure now though.

I have heard that a ton of our used trucks (of all makes) are now headed south of the border due to the dollar situation. I find it hard to believe that all dealers would be giving this type of poor service.
