alright so instead of blowing up a different thread I’m starting my own. I installed the v6 electric fan in my truck and installed a pwm controller to run the fan so at idle the fan doesn’t cycle on and off. That gives me better cooling characteristics due to constant air flow across the radiator. The ac compressor power gets tapped so the controller will run with the ac as well as stand-alone. Controller power is tapped to the accessory fuse power for the cab in the fuse box. Ran my own 10awg welding cable for the fan. Temps are after driving on the highway for 30 minutes then around town for another 30 minutes. 180° tstat installed and ags deleted

Existing fan connection in truck is not used. No modifications have been done so everything is 100% reversible. I have no cel as long as you leave the fan relays installed. The pwm module has internal 50 amp fuses installed but I still plan on installing an inline with a 45 amp fuse on the positive lead in the near future.

Soldered all my connections including the ring terminals. Heat shrink on all connections. Used #10 awg welding cable for all connections to the fan. Wire from the fan was smaller at #12 awg so mine is oversized. B68F1CCE-BAFC-4773-AE81-CBB49B8EF4D1.jpeg

Don't be surprised if it turns a cel/code on for the AGS delete in a few hundred miles. If it makes it past the 500 mile mark, you're good to go,but it has taken a few of us upwards of 500 miles before the screw trick on the AGS turned a cel on.

Screw trick had been in for about 15,000 miles now. Ags assembly has been out for 10,000

Do you have it running when ignition is on all the time or did you tap a temp sensor and the ac fan

The controller has switched power so it only operates when the key is on BUT the controller runs off of a temp sensor cut into the radiator hose to regulate fan speed based on temp. Where I have the setting now the fan turns on slow around 150°. I do have the ac power tapped so the fan goes full speed when the ac is on

Found an issue with my pwm controller. Just installed remote start and When I start my truck the fan doesn’t turn on because the accessory power doesn’t turn on until the key is on. Is there a 12v power source that turns on with the remote start that I can tie into? It’s to control a solid state relay that tells the pwm controller the truck is on so not much load
Edit: looked under hood. Found fuse that controls the dash. It’s only on under engine running. So I’m good now. Pwm has power from accessory 12v that powers the controller and power from ignition to tell the controller the truck is running or not. Now my ac works with remote start

Nice, autocool is good stuff!
I have no complaints with this minus wish I had a bigger fan but this one fits so well and cools more than I need. May have to look into the newer style fan off the 2016 trucks and see if I can make those work. I believe they’re brushless motors with more cfm which would be nice for towing. I plan on getting a 7k lb trailer down the road. It doesn’t need a bigger fan as this v6 fan draws way more than enough air through the radiator and keeps the ac cold as ice

Fun fact. Driving last night in below 80° weather the fan does not turn on while driving and takes a moment to turn on while idling. Very interesting. Im very surprised by this. Curious to see how it deals when we get into winter here in south Florida. 50s and 60s.

In my 2010 2500 5.7 Mega Cab with stock puny/tiny radiator, it doesn't struggle at all with coolant or trans temp, even with 4-5k lb trailer. I've been pleasantly surprised, after my last (non-Ram) truck with a monster aftermarket aluminum radiator that still had trouble keeping things cool.

Heads up. My fan quit on me tonight heading home and truck shut off due to heat. So the factory v6 fan doesn’t like low speed. I’ve been hearing the bearings rattling for a couple weeks now so I had a feeling. Just ordered the 2016 brushless fan. See how well that works out

Does anyone know the wattage/amperage of the variable speed fan from the 2016 v6? My controller is fused at 40 amps

It's 80 amps. I believe there is a spare 80 amp fuse in the fuse box. The hemi fuse box will say as it is the same as the Pentastar fuse box.

Good luck with getting the pentastar PWM to work. I tried to have Jay Greene activate it, then the dealer. It's not recognized even if you wire it in just like the factory.

I bought a PWM fan, harness, and fuse box from car-parts.com thinking I could get the fan to work as I plugged it in just like factory pentastar pickup and no luck. The dealer said the hemi PCM just doesn't recognize the fan.

It's a 3 wire hook up. Maybe a standalone controller can get it to work. I couldn't even get the fan motor to turn by jumping directly to the battery.

The Jeep and LS guys have gotten it to work:

How long did you have the mopar V6 fan? I just did this conversion on my 2015 using a Spectra Premium V6 fan from Amazon. I'm concerned on how long this fan will last. I live in Hawaii. The AC is on 90% of the time with lots of stop and go traffic.

From my RC racing days, brushless would be a big plus but is the controller able to run brushless? Would like to see if you could get it work.
