I'm really looking into a product I just found called iQuad from Quadzilla. It's pretty much a set of gauges for your iPod, iPad, or iPhone. Considering I would need trans temp, pyro, boost, and rail pressure this would save me a lot of money vs mechanical gauges. Below is a link to the product...let me know what you think! I've read some really good reviews about it.

Can that read all of those? If it can, you will still need to install some type of sensor (EGT probe drilled and tapped into manifold, etc.).

Just remember a few things... If your ipad or iphone batteries die you lose your gauges so that requires a car charger to be plugged in to keep it going.

Then if you forget your ipad or iphone then you forgot your gauges too.

Then if you forget to remove the ipad or iphone from your truck you take a risk of having it stolen.

Personally its best to just install gauges. Mechanical gauges are the best and last the longest. It might cost more but they will ast 10 plus years without problems compare to any electric gauge that seems to all ways have sender issues. (Fuel pressure / Boost pressure)

Something to consider... A set of mechanical gauges are roughly $300 bucks with a-pillar.

So how did the Quadzilla with iQuad, and your iPhone/iPad cost you total?

That's definitely true and one thing I've thought about. I have an extra iPhone 4 laying around the place so I can use that, get some sort of mounting piece, and I have exactly what h&s, bullydog, banks, etc. do with their gauge systems. I keep an iPhone charger in my truck so battery wouldn't be an issue, and being that the iPhone is an extra I can just leave it in my truck in the center console when not in use.

My biggest concern is accuracy and longevity...and that's something I wouldn't really worry about with mech?

I really like how it can control the smarty POD though lol

There are a few other products that do the same thing, I remember reading a review about one in the same diesel power magazine that uncle ugly/Andy's truck was in
I never thought about it till two days ago but electronic gauges are the route I'll have to go on my girlfriends truck since she uses the oh **** handle to get in
Her dad has a mini maxx for gauges in his truck and is closing in to 2 years without a single problem with it, it hasnt even been updated
I like the idea of using the iPhone for things but idk about for this, maybe if I had a Itouch that I could just leave in the truck

There's is typically other things in the truck that I'm more concerned with being stolen
Hell my girlfriends dads truck is typically unlocked where ever he goes, idk why he doesn't lock it but the minimaxx is still there

Oh **** handle lol!...never heard that before.

The only reason I'm considering it is because I have an extra IPhone That I can leave in the truck. I can use it for music and gauges. Idk though... There are a lot of pros and possible cons to it

I just downloaded the app and have been playing with it set for the 06-07 CTD. Here's a Screen shot of the gauge set up I put together...it's pretty amazing lol.

It has a module that plugs into the OBD two so all he would need is an egt probe, it'll do boost with through the OBD
Not sure about trans though but I think the OBD will give a readout for it
