So I'm planning on ordering the hid kit for the 2013 projector headlights and I have a few questions, when I select the the 50w over the 35w it says the bulb will have a shorter life, what happens when the bulb dies, can I just go to autozone and get another or Amazon, or is it some big ordeal to get the same exact light? Also what kelvin rating do you guys like? I'm thinking of going for 6000K because I like that blue look but I feel like 6000K could be too blue because of the blue tint on the projector. But maybe not, also how easy are the Canbus wires, are they as simple as they sound? I'm just debating because the stock low beams are absolutely terrible, I don't know how the stock headlights in the projector are even legal... Hahaha. But I think I am gonna buy 6000K 50W projector low beam with Canbus adapters but I'm not too sure how they work..

Bulbs can be changed just like any other halogen bulb. Once the ones with the kit burn out you can upgrade those to some nice philips lights. I like the 6000k lights as well. The canbus adapter is I believe just a plug in harness adapter. You'll get better light output but if the HID kit doesn't do it for you you will need to upgrade the projector itself.

I put 13+ projectors in my 10' that came with quads,
and added the drop in HID upgrade (35W/5000k) with canbus adapters,
just a simple plug and play.

I don't know that I would trust the stock housing/shroud (designed for a halogen bulb)
to take a 50W HID.

The stock lens may be creating an unwanted hotspot on my shrouds,
and I only have 35W bulbs/ballasts.

So now I'm thinking of moving up to the FX-R's

Here's my before and after output shots though

Wall is just over 40' away

i am not a fan of 6000K or above. too blue. 4300K is true white and looks best IMO. 5000K has a slight blue look without being obnoxious like every decade old honda on the road.

Ok, wow I really like the 5000k also but I'm just worried that 35w will be about the same brightness as the standard projectors, I want to be able to see a lot better with just low beams.. Idk, any more opinions?

I'm running 5000k with 35W ballasts and RetroShop installed Morimoto projectors. The light is superior to the standard halogens in every respect.

That is NOT going to happen,
The Stock projectors come with crappy yellow halogen bulbs

The FX-Rs are my favorite reasonably priced projectors currently. OP, even a 35w HID upgrade will be far superior to the stock bulb. Blackramhemi has provided output shots to show this. It stomps on stock. The FX-Rs have such a nicer look though primarily due to the clear lens.

Yup, stock projector lens is not optically clear,
has a slight purple tint to them too, and creates a slightly blurred cut-off.

The FXRs are designed for HIDs as well, so that helps out a LOT.

But yeah - you'll be a hell of a lot better than stock no matter which way you go.

If you have any other questions, hit me up direct man! email is [email protected] - or during normal business hours I can be reached via text - 314-669-HIDS (4437)

Thanks!!
