I have a simple problem that eludes me. My truck shakes when braking fairly heavily. I starts when I go down to 43 mph and stops once I reach 37 mph. I figured if a rotor was warped it would happen at all speeds and In my experience if a tire is out of balance it happens at a specific speed while driving not braking. Any thoughts?

Could be from a loose joint in the suspension, similar to the death wobble. What year truck ?

I'd still check the rotors. My '93 would do something similar but at lower speeds - it'd shake at speed X until it got down to speed Y and then it was fine. Had one rotor that was warped just enough to do it. Changed both rotors and brake pads and it was gone.

Just my $0.02

It does feel like the rotors are out of balance, I'm just surprised that it only happens at a certain speed but if you experienced the same thing than I'll check it out.

If you have checked all the above and the problem is still not fixed look for a tire that is out of round or flat spots on the tires, tread seperation, etc.

Yeah I checked real quick for that and didn't see much. It hasn't been getting worse and since I've been so busy I haven't had any time to work on it. Any free time I've had has been spent putting headers and other cool stuff on lol. Now that college is done I've got some time and I'm pretty sure its the brakes so I'm gonna take it apart and inspect them and may have to change them out.

tires balance can be seen at certain speeds, my corvette the tires are perfectly balanced at highway speeds and a little over, but when i get up to 150 mph it gets real shaky.

rotors may not be warped, but could be warn down, every two sets of brake pads you change, you usually want to change the rotors out
