Quick questions regarding offset and fitment on some aftermarket wheels…

Hi,


I’m sticking with the stock tires on my 2019 power wagon. As of now, I’m able to fit it within my garage within a margin of centimeters.


From, what I’ve seen online the stock 17” wheels have an offset of 42mm. Is that right?


I’m looking at 17” wheels that have a width of 9 inches, with an offset of +12mm to +18mm. Any fitment issues with these specs? I’m fine with the wheels sticking out a bit more.


Also, if I stick with 9 inch wide wheels, at what offset will I run into issues? 0mm or -12mm?

Here's the offset of your stock wheel. Optimum offset is +18-22 from what I've been able to gather. Take a look at the CJC Offroad vids on youtube.

0 offset on stock size tires would look stupid imo. skinny tire sticking way out . i dont even like 0 offset on any size tire on these trucks. just my opinion

I have a 7 foot garage door and it’s 35s and I squeak in. Why are you sticking with the stock size tire?

You can go as high as a -24 offset and you will have no problems with rubbing if its 9 wide even on 10 wide wheels and tires

I am not sticking with 33s will be 35s or 37s haven’t completely decided on that yet but they will be 12.50s not 13.50s.
I was just wondering if the 0 offset Mickey classics would cause issues.

I know. Smart man. But jarzo is. Get rid of those 33's if you can!

Not on a power wagon you can't. Totally different geometry with a 2500. You will be really hard into the pinch weld near the bottom of the flare. Even with a +18 mm I had to mold back some of the plastic there. A negative offset wheel does not play well on power wagons

I meant the 2500 platform is different than a 1500. Comparing what fits on an IFS on a 1500 to what fits on a solid axle PW are totally different conversations

I garuntee someone wouldn't be happy if they bought -24 offset wheels and 37s they couldn't turn the wheel bc it was so hard into the pinch weld.

This dude put -12 offset on his and you can see in the video how hard into the flare/pinch seam it is. 0 offset with 37s is pushing it, that's why most wagon guys stay stock wheels and deal with the radius arm rub or go with a +27 to +18mm and depending on the tire maybe just have to mold the plastic back a bit or trim it out but if you stay in those ranges you should not need to break out a grinder

It's all good man, I thought the same thing moving from my 1500 I almost bought -12s for my truck bc that's what was on my 1500 thinking a PW is that much bigger it'll fit no problem. Glad I decided to dig into it more or I would've been pissed at myself[emoji38]

I'm running 37s now had 35s before I leveled it and did my springs and shocks, I'd advise if you ever plan on going up in tire size avoid any negative offset wheel. As you will most likely have issues. You may get away with 35s but not 37s check the video I posted above with the guy trying to fit -12 wheels with 37s.

Just my 2 cents take it as you will, it's your truck at the end of the day.
