My truck is at the dealership now waiting to have the R46 recall (track bar brackets) installed. The guy in service told me he's been arguing with Chrysler most of the day about the recall, why you may ask?

He tells me that within the last 30 days or so Chrysler started a policy that any lifted truck (like mine) needs to be returned to a factory condition at the owners expense BEFORE they will complete the recall. It appears that after hours of calling and arguing he's gotten an exception for my truck.

Just putting this out there for the knowledge pool.

Looks like you actually have just a leveling kit, is that correct? Surprised they gave you such a hard time about it, how did you wind up convincing them otherwise?

Yup, just 2 1/2 spacers in front. I didn't do anything, didn't even know what was going on until after the fact. When I called at the end of day to check on it the service guy said that he'd been making phone calls for me all day...I was pretty surprised. I guess he told Chrysler that we've been trying to make this recall appointment since before they made the new rule...and it's true, we have been back and forth on dates, waiting for parts, etc.

The recall clearly states as long as the lift kit doesn't interfere with installing the r46 track bar brackets then do it.

I think it is actually apart of the Magnum Moss Act that a manufacturer can refuse to repair your vehicle until you return it to stock condition if the modifications is in the way of the repair or keeps them from performing the repair. I can understand why though. In today's sue happy world, I wouldn't want to touch another manufacturers modification and have something go wrong.

Got the truck back this morning with the recall completed. I don't know what the service guy said to Chrysler or why he just didn't turn a blind eye to my spacers to start with but it's done and it appears that they did a good job.

It might just be in my mind but the steering seems tighter than it was before...I suppose it could also be because I drove a POS '16 Camry with electric power steering while the RAM was in the shop.

That'll do it. Drove an Altima for 3 days while out of town and the Truck felt like it was on rails when I got back in it.

"Oh, sweet debt. Thy name is Truck."

How does chrysler know your truck is lifted?

that's the million dollar question. why not just keep your mouth shut and help out. service had to of said something about lift
had the same issues with my dealer on my 06 cummins. rear end was making a noise, service guys said, "those bigger tires are not gonna help with getting warranty work on it". so don't tell Chrysler i have bigger tires, WTF
they tried to blame tires, turn out the seal was leaking allowing water to get in. it was covered under warranty, but not without headaches

Thanks for the heads up. My local dealer has the brackets for me, just need to schedule the appointment. They've performed 3 of these recalls so far and one needed the axle removed and a weld team come out.

Since my truck has the RCX 5" lift I called them today to make sure the lift is compatible with the "fix". Tech support was great - according to RCX there shouldn't be an issue with fitment.

I'll keep you guys posted after I get it in the shop.

Just got mine done. Haven't really noticed any difference. Haven't looked under there.

Lore really loud clicking noise on start ups. Goes away after truck warms up. Then can only be heard while accelerating. Known ram issue. They're over torqued from factory. My other truck never had this issue and it was 5.7 1500 2013.

Holy ****, are they still working on it????

How about they never looked at prior to me calling for a "f/u" at 1500 hours. But dropped it off at 0730.

Mind you I scheduled an appointment 2 weeks ago.

They had a "surprise luncheon" .... And I was told that customers who waited got priority over a drop off. Really? So since I'm off today and don't want to wait I take a back seat? ... Why have an appointment and no loaner then?

Then the sales manager said they ran behind. Then goes on to say that he had a 10am Dr appointment and they got to him at 1045. Places run behind. I politely reminded him I had an appointment and was checked in at 0730, a 7.5 hr "backup was unacceptable".

It's supposed to be done tomorrow. I told him I should've kept it today and made an appointment tomorrow. Such crap the advantage they take when your honest with them.

I'll update after my visit tomorrow.

Dealer recently left me a VM. Due to the placement of a factory weld the bracket won't fit on one side .... Wonderful. They placed a call to FCA @1000hrs and waiting for a response on how to proceed.
